taking it off the road as my engine is about had it. timing chain needs doing and its burning oil like mad. so i have this car as a spare, over the winter i'm having the engine out of this one as it had the timing chain done 11,000 mile ago at a cost of over 1000 quid, the engine is sweet in this one so it will be cleaned up and painted nice and go into mine.

believe it or not the bloke that had this did the timing chain then the next year it failed its mot on welding so he was gonna scrap it. so i gave him 60 quid for it. sold the wheels and a few other bits, once the engine is out it will be going to the big scrap yard in the sky i think

I really liked mine when I had it, 100,000 on the clock and didn't use a drop of oil, surprisingly efficient on the motorway. But 2 bad points IMO, one the auto gearbox - nuff said, the other the rear diff just didn't actually seem LSD if you know what I mean, absolutely useless in the wet - perhaps there was something wrong with mine??
Oh and lovely pics, that is one fucking clean Granada

mines the same, few months ago went to overtake a lorry in the wet, stuck me foot down, it kicked down on shot the back end out, the bloke in the audi tt behind me had the shock of his life, an old granada drifting past a lorry. lol. mine had a real bad oil leak on a long journey early this year, when i stopped is was too late. so its never been right since, hence the engine change. rebuilding it would cost a fortune

I gotta admit I did like getting it sideways, in the dry, with the kickdown at just the right moment

cor blimey, on the roads round ere its great. in the dry there's a lovely t junction that joins the spalding bypass ya can see lovely up the road, get to it put ya foot down an it flies off up the road sideways, i've always loved rear wheel drives. my mates years ago had capris, bugger they were fun.

I remember about 10 years ago when i was little my mates parents had a very clean black one(same wheels etc) 24v jobbie, but it wasnt a cosworth? it was auto and seem to go/stop very well and felt like you were being driven on a cloud

i don't my friend. its just a matter of being in the right place at the right time.. keep your eye out in local papers and things like exchange and mart, little internet car sales sites seem to be great for it.. i've seen 2 lately for 200 quid. the only reason i got my white one was that he was gonna scrap it, so i gave him scrap value and took it telling him i was gonna scrap it for him. sold the wheels for 150 quid so i'm in profit straight away..
