Absolutely stunning motors!

Would love to upgrade to one of these from my 1.8 Mondeo! What are they like for running costs? Are they really big drinkers being V6's or can they be suprisingly reasonable?

They make George Best look like a saint! Don't buy one unless you like going to the petrol station.

Here's mine at the min -

All that would do is make it run lean! They're just a 'controlled' air leak!

37 is bloody good, the only time I managed to get that was on a drive from Kent to Newcastle with a load of other during which time we averaged 50mph and the estate managed 39mpg.

The missus 200 hatch with a decat, viper, dreamscience and decent exhaust manages 32 on a run and 26 around town. My estate manages 17 around town and about 28 on a run if I take it steady!!!!!! Mind you it is slightly more modified and has a bit more power than standard.

Like Dan says they are not a cat for those who do not like petrol stations. As my old man said it drinks more than George Best ever could and thats from a bloke who used to drive a van with a 302 Boss Mustang V8 in it!!!!!!!!!!!

very easy to live with day to day.and a lot more agile and capable than most people assume who havent yet driven one.
like all V6's they come alive at on the motorway allowing them to stretch there legs.
the 200 is a total eye catcher and everytime i pulled into a petrol station, you would get a bit of a nod as if to say 'ive always liked those'

personally i think its totally pointless to try and tune them as 'most' of them plainly dont respond very well if at all.
some people have had more luck than others getting them to give back BHP but as a general rule a standard motor can range between 180bhp to 200bhp on the rollers and then theres the factor of whether you believe the rollers you were on in the first place lol.

you could invest in some custom headers and Y pipe, decat all 3 cats, custom map for it etc and maybe see just over 200bhp with a little more torque or you could lay a good 5 grand on it and get a supercharger from nautilus and a garage to fit it,or fit yourself and halve the overall cost.good for 260-270bhp and a lot more torque and a much lighter wallet.
and you thought you were getting thru petrol now lol.

Tuning them as Russ has said is very hit and miss.

I have spent a small fortune on mine on different setups in order to achieve what I have. Mine is currently sat at 243bhp and the wifes hatch is 215bhp.

I would suggest not getting one unless you like visiting petrol stations and certainly dont tune one unless you have a very understanding bank manager.

lololol Well I've had a MK6 RS2000 4x4 and that liked the petrol station a lot pmsl..it's been written off now..so was thinking of either another RS2000 4x4 or the ST200 as I've got both my kids living with me now..so really need a car with 4doors as they fight who is going to be in the front which drives me nuts..also I get the moaning about having to climb in the back from the front door..kids pmsl
