WOW just watched out cat give birth to 7 kittens!!!!!!
As some of you know i bought my wife a kitten for her birthday about 2 years ago.
She is a Maine Coon with full top end pedigree, show winning parents, her dad world champion 3 years running. She was £400, but well worth every penny.
Maine Coons are more like dogs, and will pretty much do everything a dog will do. She loves swiming, we have a double sunken bath and she often runs full pelt across the hall and "supermans" it in to the bath
If you leave the bathroom door open she will just walk in the shower when it on. She open doors, and will walk and run with you out side. You can pick her up and rub her belly and im teaching her to sit and do paw at the mo!
Im not a cat person my self, but shes got such a personality i can help having a soft spot for her. They take 5 years to reach full size and can reach a meter in length. Shes still quite small her self, but ive worked out she costs £50-60 per month to keep!
Our nearest neighbour is about 1/2 mile away and after that ther is no one for about 2 miles, SO you can immagine my shock when i found her out side one night with the farm cat from next door. I do hope hes a pedigree or ill be calling her a tart!
Heres some pics of her
A vid of her last week

She couldnt even fit through the cat flap
Yeh we did want her to breed with a main coon, as 7 kittens would have been £2800!!!!!
But its not about the money, i think we wont even sell these cats as we have enough friends who have already claiming them
she will be spayed as soon as the kittens are all gone, im not going through this again. Its a lot of work.
I aim to weigh them each day to make sure they are all eating, they have already doubled in weight this morning they are only 18 hours old !!!!!!!
Lots of pics to follow, they are still blind and deaf at the mo so not much going on, but they already hiss at strangers (yes we had lots of visitors last night) obviously they have good smell.

They originate from north america, the indians used to believe they were a spiritual animal, half Lion and half racoon.
hence Maine (lions maine)- coon (raccons tail).
Here is a picture of her dad, he is CFA Ch & GCCF Grand Champion, (basically top of the top!) and he costs £500 if you want him to stud for you.
his name is kickboxer ko
Well they all made it through the night, i think if they can make a few more nights then I can relax a little they are so delecaite.
Heres a quick pic of my misses holding one of the little dudes, soory for the poor quality, trying to keep it dark in here to avoid stressing them all out.
hes exactly 24 hours old

Did you get her from a place called coonflakes in Surry?
We had one about the same time but unfortunally he died last summer.
They are very bright cats and very sociable. Ours wasn't that clever though.

Yeh coonflakes
Well they little kitties are 2 days old now.
Im so proud of coco, shes really taken to it very well, although she does occasionally sit on one or two
Here she is this morning, proud mum
She finally felt brave enough to leave them for 5 mins to go have something to eat and do her business. SO i took the oppertunity to tey get a group shot, although they were hard to focus on as you will see in the vid
vid- reminds me of sooty and sweep with all the squeeks
And back with mum again
I really thought we would loose one, as there are two small dudes and not enough nipples to go around. but they have made it 2 days now, so if they can hold out a few days then I think were pretty safe.
I even went to the vets, and bought a artificial feeder kit from the vets just to help give the 2 runts a better chance, it worked a little bit, so well worth £25. Well untill coco decided to finish it off
It looks a bit dodgey, especially if you let your thumb off, and it spurts everywhere will take a pic of it when the camera batteries are charged up again

Lovely cats - I've got a part Norwegian Forest Cat - a distant cousin of the Maine Coon.
Have you got homes for all the kittens yet? (Please say yes or else my other half will want one! lol)
err.. no.
The Maine bit is that they come from the US state of Maine. Nothing to do with a lions Mane.

A theory which is biologically-based, though genetically impossible, is the idea that the modern Maine Coon descended from ancestors of semi-feral domestic cats and raccoons. This could have possibly explained the most common color of the breed (brown tabby) and the bushy tail, which is a characteristic trait. Another idea is that the Maine Coon originated between the matings of domestic cats and wild bobcats, which could explain the tufts of hairs that are so commonly seen on the tips of the ears. There have been reports of domestic cats breeding with bobcats.
The generally-accepted theory among breeders is that the Maine Coon is descended from the pairings of local short-haired domestic cats and long-haired breeds brought overseas by English seafarers (possibly by Captain Charles Coon) or 11th-century Vikings. The connection to the Vikings is seen in the strong resemblance of the Maine Coon to the Norwegian Forest Cat, another breed which is said to be a descendant of cats that traveled with the Vikings

The momma and kittens are gorgeous. Maine coons are very special. I lost my 16yr old last year and miss him dearly. They do have a tendancy to suffer hip dysplasia similar to the problems that german shepherd dogs suffer from. The kittens having some farmhouse moggy in them is probably a good thing.
