Featured in 1997 and 1998 in Fast Car, Performance Ford and Max Power.

Possibly Fast Ford too but i'm not 100%

 

I remember being behind her on the way to the mad mile in Banstead that very year.

Was just about the lowest MK I in the world.

Lovely clean simple looking car.

She had an HT Racing head at the time didn't she?

 

Saw that run at the Pod in '92/'93.

Fantastic car.

YBD power and complex gear stick with micro switches on each position for variable boost in each gear.

Saw another mental flat front in white on the same visit, only with BVR, rainbow stripes, white Weller steelies, big arches (possibly tarmac), 'Minder' front spoiler if I remember correctly and the oddest nose up stance at least partially due to the fact it was running a 4WD transmission.

 

She's currently tucked up asleep in the garage awaiting (amongst other things) another gearbox rebuild and a nice Pace rad Mr Knox.

 

Does anyone remember that MK4 Escort XR3i with the "blood" splatter over the front paint job and I think the rest of the car was a light beige? It had the red and beige leather retrim and the flushed boot too and I think it had those wheels that Wheelmania advertised everywhere on.

I saw it cruising around Sheringham a couple of years ago.

Me too, i was about 10, i guess, and dad brought the max power mag home from a chap he worked with, i saw that and it made me like cars in general, and i always wanted one just like that! wasn't it YB'd?

I think it is an XR3i not an RS Turbo. Was For Sale on E-Bay or Piston Heads a while back. Some awesome body mods and the interior is well tricked out as well

 

Thats the one! It's got huge noisey exhausts but I like it still. Its just different and a brave decision to mod a car like that.

 

The lad who built that car lives near me.......he sold it a few years ago...

He spent a fucking fortune on the car but when you opened the bonnet it was a FILTHY 1.3 engine in there....looked a right fucking mess

I remember that in a few of the mags. My brothers mate had a black s2 about the same time (H693 JPH) brings back some memories

 

i have loads of old mag's in my garage, have a max power from 1991 im only 21 lol

 

It would take me ages to find it but can any one remember the lime green rst pick up with a turbo lump in the back and front, ran up santa pod late 90's and it was mag featured too! any pictures would be nice loved that pick up lol

 

I have a mag in the house of my car when it was featured in the late 90's will need to see if i can get it scanned.

Thread revival !

Haven't used this log on in years and my only reason for doing so is I was given some magazines from the launch of the S1 Turbo, XR2 and RS500 recently.

I'll get them scanned in and posted up
