Default Photoshop help

I've recently acquired a copy of Photoshop and have followed the tutorial at the top of the page by RS-Leigh, but where I am struggling is the bit where I cut round the picture of my car to remove the background and allow me to transfer the image to my new siggy. His tutorial makes this part look very easy, but I just cannot get it even close.

Any help or advice would be really appreciated

Yeah, magnetic lassoo. I just copied the tutorial from PF. That's the bit I'm really struggling with although I have found pasting it to the siggy, the using the rubber allows me to get a better finish.

Thanks
