you can use something like "dvd shrink" to encode a pal dvd into ntsc without too much trouble. or most dvd players can be 'programmed' to play all dvd regions and play in either ntsc or pal (or at least european ones can). see www.dvdrhelp.com

Just write NTSC in the address somewhere.
