Last year i was given this.

Then like you do i thought so what shell i do with it.
As ive been into nova's for a wile now the idear of making it in to a track toy popped up so not to trash my red 1 i had at the time.

And was then replaced with a 1.6 gte engine as was sold it for £50 all in.


This was having stuff done to it at the same time to keep me going on mine.


Getting there



So this was how it stuck for the first year out were it went very well for some thing that had been bodged together over a week.
Wile at llandow on its first track day it won car in the most spirit of the day which bagged me a brand new set of harnkook tyre's

Then at castle combe action day last september wile chassing a scooby a valve let go and sort of wiped out bore number 3.
So time for a few changes and get it ready for this year.
In the mean time i managed to get hold of a lockup/new car trailer and tow car.
The bad news was that i had to sell the red 1.


So into the lockup i went for the next few evenings every night for a few months to sort thing with the car.
The idear was to make it as light as poss for the lease amount of £. So if it didnt need it it was cut out.



But had the engine bay welded up by me Dad (Thank you)





Then went about building the box of parts i had bought into a engine and get on with fitting it.

Then fitted some painted bits.

And ditched the ignition.

Ive also fitted a set of coilovers.
I got it all ready for the first action day of the year at combe in april but first time out i got to the 3rd corner when it had a little problem and got to watch the rest of the session from the pit wall.

once back to the pits we found the fault. The temp sencer had broke which made the car over fuel and stopped the car.So once sorced a new temp sencer was fitted then went back out and apart from a few oil serge moments went well.
Its just come back from its second trip to combe but this time behaved it's self.

Im planning on one asap as if pushed i could light the front passenger side wheel from quarry to the esses at combe in the dry.
Thanks for your coments and ive got a track day booked for the 20th aug at llandow so will see how it goes around there this year with the bigger engine and better suspention.
And i will keep you all posted on how it goes.
I dont know if you can see in the pic's but the roof has been signed on each of the white square's by all the people that help with the build by donateing parts or at very good mate's rate's.

With any luck the red nova will be done soon and I really want to get it on track before september for shakedown as were off the the Ring then.

20th August is a wee bit close to when we leave though and I wouldn't want a week to rebuild a car again before we leave lol

BTW Quaife LSD on ebay so far cheap

Is it a road car or mainly track car ? if its a track car then I would personally consider a plate lsd as I always found with my quaife that when on the complete limit in the bends if you lifted off you knew it was game over as the LSD would dissangage where as a plate wont

Worth considering imo but most people do go 50/50 and stick to the atb

Sound cool and thanks for the advice.
It is not road leagal as live's on its tralier but would be such a giggle on the road but there is nowere safe any more to put your foot down so that why ive got the sensible car for the road and this for track play time.
Have a good time at the ring and make sure you get there as my mate broke down the other week on route so was well gutted.

I do miss it every time i see the feature on me wall but it had to go before i killed myself or worse somebody else as was to quick for that size of car on the road.
Also had to go to fund my track habit.
I made 2k for a G reg nova so i was happy as it only owed me £1500.

Go for it but make sure it's been well built. I knew the history of both of mine as built them myself.
If not done right it will still be quick but will put you of it very fast or in a ditch which ever come's first.

I have a time to beat round the ring from my last visit in the novas but If my performance round there in a Clio 172 was anything to go by then I dont think I'll try beating any pb's just yet lol

Lee made the tie bars on the red nova I'm doing, still not actually met him yet but not sure if you also know Ben Speechley as he is from round my way and mates with Lee I believe.

Im on mig (Chrismoore or ernie on pvg/novaload or pvg). I may know him by car but as for Lee ive know him for age's and is shit hot at making things.Very skilled at stuff and a top fella.
