They used to be done in the olden days because when the dogs was a protector, hunting, or fighting ( which a lot of these dogs were bred for ) the ears would often get torn, and damaged when squeezing through hedgerows etc so they were cut to reduce the damage and injury to the dog, just like when dogs used to have their tails docked. but unfortunately it ended up becoming more of a fashion thing.....

The Pit Bull tend to fight. They also play very hard and can damage the ears. Even when they are puppies...
The cutting of ears is functional. How many races do exist that are only short tails for aesthetic reasons?
Respect for those who do not like it, but I like it.
Is the image that a Pit Bull must have, in my opinion.
My dogs have their ears cut off and they have a happy life.

rafa i am not a fan of cut ears myself but he is your dog and you are from another country
out of interest do you have any other dogs or just this one
loved the previous pictures of him just seeing the pictures that soon after cutting his ears makes me feel sad
if they were all healed up then i would not feel so bad

Call me soft but looking at the before and after snaps. To me the dog looks full of fun and mischief in the first snaps, and in the second set it looks miserable and unhappy.....
