Introduction and some pics from a dutch Sapphire
Hi there,
as my nick suggests, my name is Eric and I live in the country of extremely expensive Cosworth parts...
I've had my Saphire (2wd) since July last year, it's been completey resparayed, all the rubber thingy's on the outside have been replaced, like window and door rubber stuff, and changed a few things to it.
I've fitted a hybrid T34 (0.63 exhaust, bigger compr. wheel and matched compr. housing) to it, an RS500 IC, grey's+chip, plenum spacer, new wheels, new discs and some bits and bobs.
I've only got a few crappy pics, but hey, it's better then nothing.
This was in the good days...
Then the smoking started....
Was driving on the freeway (full throttle, about 35 psi ) and then it happened....a big white cloud came out of my exhaust and the power was ehrrmm...quite gone...
Engine running on 3 and lots of pressure in the cooling system.
Looked like the headgasket had gone, not a big surprise on this boost pressure...
So I ordered a new cometic gasket, a set of ARP head studs, when they came in I began on taking the head off.
This is how it looked then.
Checked the headgasket....nothing to see there that would say gasket failure...
Checked the head....same as the gasket...nothing wrong with it....
Then took the light and looked into the cilinders.....
AARRHHGG!!!!
BIG crack in cilinder number 3.....
That was the end of a 205 block that only had covered about 6000 miles after a rebuild.
So now I'm looking for a 200 block with very low miles on it, or one that has been rebuilt not long ago.
Problem is that I'm a poor car mechanic with a sorry excuse for a salary, so fixing the Cossie is going to take a while as funds are very limited at the moment...
