While in this thread people have been calling other users twats and idiots etc, and received utterly no punishment for it at all, someone making a joke about how a new name could be read, is given 50% of a ban from the site, despite the fact that person on the receiving end of the joke clearly wasnt upset by it anyway.

THAT is the big problem with passionford moderation IMHO, its not the rules, its the fact that it is totally and utterly at random how they enforced with utterly no application of any inteligence or reasoning at all.


No one ever respects any form of authority if it is inconsistant.

 

Not commenting on specifics and I haven't read them, but the principle of what you say I agree wholeheartedly with.

While I do understand that the moderation team have a lot of work on their hands running this place, I think that 90% of it is unjustified and leads to more problems.

Maybe we should let PF run for a week with absolutely no input from moderators, just to see what happens?

at least one of the mods will be looking into it for you so they can see sense in some cases as in reviewing your infractions. but it does seem abit wrong considering how many other people have had abuse thrown at them in that thread

This thread was NOT started by me, it was started by one of the moderation team using my username by creating it from a post I made in reply to another thread.

 

It wasnt a complaint, it was an example to show stu the sort of inconsistancy that people were replying to that thread saying existed, he has specifically ASKED for examples to back up what people are saying in the past when the moderation team is mentioned, so I was just giving him EXACTLY what he wanted, a really good example of the moderation team totally losing the plot.

Ironically it now seems to have become TWO good examples of that, judging by it being singled out and removed from the very thread it was assisting by adding clarity to in the first place

I added the bulk of the text from this back in, complate with an explanation so clear that any mod, even one who hadnt read the thread could easily understand as to why it was in that thread, as an example of posts from earlier in the thread, and it got deleted outright

The manner it was meant, was to help provide stu with an example, like he always asks for, with regards to all the users commenting about moderation standards being piss poor and inconsistant.

Kindly place it back there where it is on topic, rather than dragging it off into another topic where you can then try and make it out to be some sort of complaint when in fact it wasnt a complaint in itself it was merely a perfectly up to date example to add weight to the complaints of others and it was in the correct place for that reason.

No mate, please remember it is NOT me that keeps starting all these threads with my username, I was perfectly happy to just wait till you got a response out of Tony as to why he had made such a massive error of judgement and how he intended to rectify it etc, I view you as one of the mods that are actually here trying to make the site better (my agenda too) so was very happy to see that you were dealing with it.

 

To be fair to Chip, for once I actually with agree with the guy.
I (and its only my opinion) can see no reason for the infraction?

The mod involved had no problem with it by all accounts and even returned with a bit harmless banter so for another mod to come along and start dishing out infractions like that is wrong is it not?

chip im not in a habbit of playing childish games so here it is

i see it as you just trying as usual to cause as much impact as usual and actually to put there topic where you want it ! so far that topic is just a stage for people to play with rather than be produtive . You have actually made some helpfull surgestions and some great ideas on the topic so why cant you just stick that ?
