Default RS Specialist

Before I start, I jhust want to say that this is nothing personal against the person in question.

......

Rs Specialist still has his trade user name he had while trading and is no longer an official registered trader of PassionFord.

I therfore ask the question .. Why has he been allowed to keep his username when others have had to change them. ?

Its probably because the admin have been too busy etc.. and would hope it isnt a case of the rules being applied unfairly yet again. !

The rules...

Members either known to be, or considered by the web team to be commercial users must be registered as official PassionFord Traders and have paid the current fee to be able to enter any sale advertisements whatsoever on the forum or be registered with a business name. Registration is also required in order to place or reply to wanted adverts.

In addition to this, because a commercial user will build up a level of trust and trade recognition within the community, they will no longer be allowed to trade on PassionFord or retain their commercial user name if they choose to withdraw their commercial user status and site support. This is to stop unscrupulous commercial users registering for a few months and then trading for free on the back of the status built up in that time. The selling ban for ex-commercial users includes offering items for sale in signatures and posts as well as replying to wanted adverts.
Thanks

I think what he might be getting at is when you were trading your name was still RS Specialist... Which will have been used to build up a relationship with customers and a customer base which will still continue I should imagine.

Surely then this is your PassionFord trading name? Thus the above rules on continuing to use your traders username would still stand.

So the fact your business is such and such Ltd is irrelevant in this instance.

With respect....

No actually we havent been "here" before !

The rules cover everyone equally or they should do and even more so as you as a moderator should be setting an example to us users.

The fact is the user name you have was used while yoiu were trading for a substancial period so people will still know you by your user name and make that connection irrespective if you are in business or not.

The reason I brought this up is that you are a stickler for the rules and I had to change my user name for the the rules as I quoted.

As I only have my own experience to compare with...
I had my original user name well before I started any business.
My official/recorded business name was never "SECS" !

If "RS Specialist" isnt a trade name but you delt as a specialist in RS cars and parts would I be allowed the user name "ECU Monitor specialist" ?
The answer would certainly be no I am sure !!

So in conclusion, we both had business with different user names to our businesses yet you say you are allowed to keep yours but I am not.....Why ?

So perhaps if you are allowed to keep yours and I provide absolute proof of my old company name not being SECS, then am I allowed my original user name back ? LOL

As for me being bored....
Please dont make this personal as I have just pointed out a blatent abuse of the rules and I am 110% sure you would do the same to me.
I have posted this in a calm non abusive manor and in the right forum.

Why not just change your user name. ... job done and I am sure people would have more confidence in you as a rule enforcer than they already have !

Hope this explains

Simon
if you cast your mind back many many years ago I have had my same user name from the start, when traders where allowed to advertise my company name was advertised in my siggy,as you can see its not there anymore from the day I didnt renew my trade membership
just because I paid to trade on this site didnt mean I had to change my user name to my business name, maybe I should have done, but i didnt see the point as my company details where clear to see in my siggy,as thats what i was paying for
now on the other hand you where trading as SECS whilts I was trading as Ashfield Motorsport Spares and Services, the exact name which is on my business stainonary and banking details, only differebnce is I went LTD a few years ago
so Simon if i was trading on here as RS Speicalists I would have glady changed my user name, but I wasnt and never have traded on this site as RS Specialist
maybe a new rules is in order to have any tarders use only there buisiness name, but the problem is now most who come and go are not registered with the Tax man and are trading on the side to hide who they really are,the old system of paymnet to become a trader was much better as you had to pay with a company cheque which prooved your were ledgit

I must admit I didnt realise you werent a trader on here anymore, as you still had your established forum trading name I just assumed you were still a trader.

Certainly is confusing!

So if I were to start mapping cars I could have my username as "ecu tuning specialist" legimately providing my company name was something different? Then I could establish myself as a trader on here by paying the fees a couple of times, then when the fees expired I could still use that established trade username indefinately?

That does seem a bit of a weird loophole, maybe admin should look into closing it.

you have got it around your neck a little mate,my user name is my forum user name the one I chose to use when this site started, when I paid to trade my compnay details where listed in my siggy as this is what people saw and used to contact me
the rules say you cannot have your company name or the name you have traded under on this site or word to that effect
as i have tried to expalin to Simon I have never traded on this site with any name other than the one on my business banking details, which is Ashfield Motorsport
as i said maybe we need to make people who wish to trade on this site have a buisness name to stop any future confusion

Pete,

LOL !!

SECS was my original forum name BEFORE I started trading oficially on here.
(Yes I used to be an official trader in case you didnt know)
SECS was never the official company name.

The name on the cheque book was Simon Johnson T/A "Simon J Electronics"

SECS was my user name and so people related my business with that name in the same way your user name relates to you and your business and even worse as your name actually describes what you do or did do !!

Now irrespective of my past or your past/present, , we both have/have been in the same situation and yet you say you can keep your user name yet I was forced to change mine...

Is that fair ? NO !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You keeping your user name that you used while trading makes a mockery of the rules as they stand. IMO

I stand by what I said and it's a shame that you still don't quite see the same point that 3 separate individuals have said.

Carry on enjoying the loophole!

This is a public forum and I appreciate other peoples opinions especially when they tend to agree with me..LOL
Its not a case of anyone being in the firing line other than the fact I have had rules imposed on me yet see the very same rules being abused by others who are given the responsibility for upholding the rules.
Why can you not understand this simple principle ? !

Are you actually reading my posts as to me you clearly you are not !

Irrespective of anything that has happened to me...

1) You were a trader and are no more.
2) While you were a trader the name you used was RS Specialist
3) You have retained the name RS Specialist since becomeing a non trader.
4) RS Specialist relates to the business you are/was in.

Now I respectfully ask you to pleas change your name to keep within the rules as I and others on this thread understand them or allow me the same loophole as I have explained and change my user name as requested please.

If as a moderator you cannot do either or feel I am being unreasonable then I would kindly ask you to refer this to another moderator who can undertstand what I am getting at without resorting to any personal history against myself as this is a clear cut case of rules being applied differently depending on who you are !

Many thanks

Excuse me but I'm no part of any little band of followers... You think I have some vendetta against you? Incorrect. Simon simply noted a point with which I agreed.

Grow up.

The name stays even though it contradicts the rules. In which case the rules mean nothing so why don't we all go and break them?

It's clearly a part of the rules which need clarification, why not ensure the rules are clarified on the website rather than making yourself sound like a dick.

Pete,

I have made my point and others who have no tie up with me have agreed !
Even though this thread is has been here for several days, no normal users have taken your side.. why is that ?

The absolute fact is.. if anyone else was in your situation that I have highlighted you would not think twice in dishing out some form of repremand.

Perhaps you would gain much needed respect over and above that of being a moderator of other users if for once you actually abide by the rules you enjoy enforcing.

Have the balls to admit you have made a mistake for once please and stop using your personal feelings against me to hide behind.

I have never mentione dthis before so please stop using that excuse to justify yourself.
Link..... ???

Anyway, I have had my say and we are just going round in circles and I expect you are just waiting for an excuse to ban or give me infractions because I dare dicuss a subject you dont want to talk about even though I have done so in a calm and polite manor.

I have sent a link to this thread to AJ for his comments as on this occasion I do not believe you have the capability of being unbiased or objective given the complaint is about you.
Thanks for your time.

The amount of work Pete puts in on this site and you lot are having a go at him about his user name!!!???

At the end of the day Admin have ok'd it so they are obviously happy that its not his business name!!

Give it a rest lads...surely there's more important things for you to worry about

Im going to lock this topic as i feel all questions have been answered.
