Why are threads about Torrents deleted?

 

Because it's technically piracy and that's illegal.

I'd also like to add that in the thread I read, the OP was only asking a question with regard to how Torrents work: I think he was looking for a client or something? No mention at all of what it would be used for.

 

i dont see the prob with talking about them (just no links etc)

are we going to ban talk of speed as 99% of it is on the roads and hence illegal? i think not

are we going to ban talk of speed trap detectors as there use means your speeding

the list is endless of things that are gray area but as there about cars there aloud

just my thinking

 

The point is though, that Torrents are legal and are an efficient way of transferring data. It only becomes illegal when you download something you shouldn't, so it's your responsibility.

Are any moderators going to answer this? How about the one who deleted the thread last night?

The post was removed as it was discussing the illegal downloading of music. The original poster may not have asked it that way. But as usual on here, links to torrent sites were posted so the post was removed.

Im fully aware of the legitimate transfer of files using this method, and tend to leave the post up, but when links to torrent sites are posted we have to act accordingly.

Hope this clear this up a little for you.
