Default Advertising rules rant

Seems really harsh that the rules now state the car has to be owned by the member advertising it or it will be removed

Most people on the site probably advertise one car a year if any. So so what if they want to advertise a friends or familys car to make use of the money they have paid towards the site

Seems like just another way to squeeze as much money out of people as possible.

All i want to do is advertise my boss's car as he wants me to sell it for him. He is 60+ and has no particular interest in fords so why would he want to to pay to join a ford website for a year to adverstise when im already a paid up member.

just wanted to have a rant about it i know no one in charge is going to change anything or care at all.

The problem is Sunil, all over the internet there are car scams being done by people whom simply register on a website sell a car for "A Friend" and say "Its not my car / isn't my number / wasn't my fault" so where does that leave the buyer? Sorry Sunil, don't look at me, cant help you mate, sorry you have lost Ł22'000.00 I thought the geezer from the pub was ok. Then it all kicks off that it must be IB's fault then, why do we let people sell cars that are not theirs?

When you are involved in the internet at the level I am you get to see things that still amaze you every day and you have to determine ways to protect the users as much as possible. It actually has nothing at all to do with money. Being brutally honest, the membership money from here is a drop in the ocean to IB and they have not made this rule, I have, and I gain zero from your membership money.

That said, when the exceptional new feedback system comes into place I can relax that rules as you will be able to make an informed decision on the sellers honesty yourself, but until then, it stands. Sorry.

Unsure why you think I dont care though, I think that was harsh but your entitled to your opinion so I will accept it.

Why should your boss advertise his car on this forum for free? when others of us have to pay for the priveledge!!

I have asked for 2 proofs of ownership via having logbooks scanned to me, in both cases this was when i saw adverts in cars for sale which were sold on behalf of girlfriends etc and when I sent a PM saying this was not allowed I was then told "oh no, the car actually belongs to me"

I therefore asked for the logbook proof and in both cases it was not forthcoming.

Its Ł10 a year to advertise... you cannot expect be able to advertise for all and sundry???

If i was to sell my car it has my better halfs name on the log book. We paid half each and she got the name on the book. Does that mean i cannot sell it on here?

Sorry Stu it was a bit harsh to say you dont care. I know your top bloke from the dealings we have had in the past.

I still dont agree with rule though. Why would someone hold IB responsible for a car they bought off the site that wasnt up to scratch.

That doesnt wash with me at all. When you buy a car your going to have to go collect it sign the documents etc so its down to you and the bloke your buying off and nothing to do with the place you saw it advertised.

The only way i can see someone being scammed is if they pay a deposit over the net without seeing the car or pay the full amount and have it delivered. If someone is stupid enough to pay money for a car without seeing it then its there fault if they get mugged off and no one elses. Who in there right mind would hand over money for a car without inspecting it first, i know i wouldnt.

even though i dont agree it is the rules so thats that. Thanks for replying though.

I think there has to be some common sense applied here

The guy that started the thread has nearly 2k posts and has contributed to the site

If someone on the site is interested in the car then that could be viewed as a contribution also ie member is shown a car which may otherwise not be advertised on a national basis.
