Wether or not its legal depends on the country the server is hosted in, and the T&C's when you signed up.
But as it doesnt seem to have happened anyway and you are just saying it has
ie your title is "got an email from this board" when in fact you have NOT got an email from this board at all, you have got it from a totally different company who could have got your email address in a number of ways, then its not really an issue IMHO

I dont know if its legal or not mate, but even if it is legal, i very much doubt the silent force that is IB will turn round and say yes Phyliss, we sold your email addy to another company.

2 people got a Ford related E-Mails this week? 
I would say your right, thats definate proof that the PassionFord database of 40,000 people has been sold on.
Its obviously gone to a company absolutely at the top of their game at utilising these mailing lists for targeted marketing too. They must have paid millions for it to put it to such great use so fast! Fancy now having the knowledge and power to be able to e-mail two UK people an advert for a US product. WOW. Wish i had them doing my marketting for me.
The most annoying thing about this whole episode is not only the lack of integrity shown by thus Huge uncaring US corporation, but also the irritating and embarassing fact that i too once had access to that great database and i didnt grasp the opportunity to mail you both whilst i could.

Whatever happened, I didn't receive this email, so... has my email address been removed from this "so-called sale of details" ? I wouldn't think so... which leads me to think that your email address got to them in some other way

Don't take this the wrong way Phil, but I can't believe in this day and age that anyone can be naive enough to be shocked by junk mail. It's been a fact of life for years now, get over it
All your names are on countless databases and there's a massive trade in such data. Whenever you give anyone ANY personal data there's a high probability that it's will be sold on. It's a huge revenue source for many many organisations. Some of it is legit, some isn't. If you don't like it, use the delete button.

I have 82 dealers around Europe, all selling my ECU software and products, and its all because of a Ford Forum. yet only 3 of those dealers are known Ford Tuners. Go Figure...
Any "Ford Blinkered" owners may never have heard of us, and hey, due to my love of the RS margue i decided to rectify that particular hole in my marketplace by starting a Ford forum. Look where that particular move got me in the Ford market... perhaps i was good at that too!
But hey, what would i know? My lifes nothing without the internet.
I guess advertising in the 2 biggest Ford Mags in Europe, the biggest Bmw Magazine, The biggest Diesel magazine, A Motorsport magazine, performance Tuner magazine and 2 trade based magazines... even writing for a popular magazine wouldnt have helped me much at all?
Didnt your teacher ever tell you that you should show your workings out on paper? This sort of stupid comment highlights exactly why that is...
