Hi there,

Any one got any info on the mondeo 4x4 drive train.... is it mtx75 based? and the same as the rs2000 4x4. Is the transfer box viscous coupled.

its not the same as a rs20004x4
but is the one used in the jaguar 4x4

i rember reading up on a fiesta turbo that was a zvh with the running gear out of a mondeo it was only running 200bhp but seemed to take it

they are vicous coupled and they arent as weak as people make out, but they will break if you try and do wheels spins and such.

they are mtx75 based but you will need a 4x4 mtx75 gearbox.

a friend has a ka 2.1 zetec turbo 4x4, it uses the mondeo running gear i have pics before i get avvused ofblagging lol, its running 380 bhp and, he upgraded all bearigs etc in the box, dif and transfer box etc, it handled the power just fine for 8000 miles of track abuse until it got ripped apart agin to do more mods, then he ran out of money, now the whole car is up for sale as unfinished project but if you sort the bearings etc you should be fine, oh and you need a swirl pot(i think thats wat its called anyway lol) or somehing to increase transfer box oil capacity

Ive got some info for you
The Mondeo is as said MTX75 Based, with a transfer box bolted on.
There is only one thing different between the Escort and Mondeo.
The tourque is delivered 60% to the rear weels on Escort,
and on the Mondeo 60% to the front.
So guess if id rather have a Escort gearbox on my mondy
I havent found out if you can reconfigure this by changing planetary gears.....

This is NOT correct... the Jag X-type has a different Gearbox that can handle the more powerfull V6 delivering 284Nm of tourqe.
The Jag X-type is based on the Mondeo platform, but moust things are not alike.
The Mondy/Escort gearbox only takes 220Nm (on the paper that is)
