Ive got some info for you
The Mondeo is as said MTX75 Based, with a transfer box bolted on.
There is only one thing different between the Escort and Mondeo.
The tourque is delivered 60% to the rear weels on Escort,
and on the Mondeo 60% to the front.
So guess if id rather have a Escort gearbox on my mondy
I havent found out if you can reconfigure this by changing planetary gears.....

This is NOT correct... the Jag X-type has a different Gearbox that can handle the more powerfull V6 delivering 284Nm of tourqe.
The Jag X-type is based on the Mondeo platform, but moust things are not alike.
The Mondy/Escort gearbox only takes 220Nm (on the paper that is)
