Default Mondeo TDCi problem, help needed

Just wondering if anyone has had the same problem, drove the car earlier and all was fine, just been out in it and there a funny rubbling noise that i can feel (only)through my left foot when it's resting on the clutch pedal, if i press the pedal 20-30mm the rumble gets worse, but if i hold the revs at about 1300rpm the rumble goes completely. The car has only done 42k miles with full service etc, i bought the car of a mate 10 months ago and he had it from 9k til i had it on 36k so i'm quessing it's still on the original clutch.

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Cheers Ginger

Might sound silly, I had the very same problem in my van at the weekend. Eventually it got really bad doing 65 (top speed in my van ) down the M1, pulled up and it turned out one of the wheels was loose!!!
I'd go round and give your wheel nuts a once over

Sorry to say but as355f1 is probably correct.

I had exactly the same 'rumble' which disappears when you put your foot on the clutch with my 04 plate 2.0 TDCi Mondeo. Unfortunately there are few symptoms other than that initially, but ultimately the starter motor will fail as it fills with 'iron filings' from the disintegrating flywheel material and then the whole unit will fail.

It's a pretty costly repair - shop around and you should be able to get it done for around £650.
