New top speed ;)
my mate wee jimmy
took my gixxer for a long burn on sunday. he managed to hit 164mph and apparently it feels damn good and theres plenty more left in her
unfortunately jimmy had to slow for a roundabout but sure he'll have another shot at it soon cos he wants to crack 170
i dont condone this at all and of course i never go above the 70mph speed limit officer

at that sort of speed you really need you wits about you and i too dont condone it at all
but
last summer i had my Mv up to 165mph but it kept hitting rev limiter and back firing/ignigtion cutting out, i try to break this speed 3 times and every time it did excatly the same.
it wasnt until a bit further down the road i realised i wasnt in 6th gear
never mind
thanks

From: fee, fife, foe, fumb,i smell the blood of an englishman ,in scotland!
these speeds are dreadfull, you should be ashamed of yourselves!!!
when i had my busa,i wasnt doing 220 on the clock, and it wasnt in this country either,
the bigger the bike ,the heavier it is!

horible horible bike to ride wish id kept the gsxr 1000 the r1 has roller bearing turbo exturnall wast gate k+n fillter mapable management most of the internals are titanium boost hits at about 8500rpm no ehausts just two small pipes one exhaust and one wast gate . im a member of the cleveland rsoc and at last meet the chareman held up a picture of the white 200mph saf and asked if any one could beet it and started laughing but he soon stoped when i put my hand up and told about my bike
the only good thing about it is the nois that it makes

I know someone
who had an indicated 320kph (200mph) on a lightly tuned Hayabusa one cold, sunny morning.
I'm not daft enough to think the Hayabusa was really doing 200mph but it certainly was shifting

ive seen 174 on the clock of my mv senna(still a few revs left), still could not shake of a m8 on zxr9 thou, and my m8 advised me last month that the limiter in my m3 did not work when it shot past 165...
is all good fun , but just be carefull folks!!

pah! get yourself a zx-10R..
I've had mine to 172mph off the limiter... in 4th gear!
They hit the 186mph speed limiter in 5th (before the rev limiter) and you've got another gear to go. Christ knows what they read de-limited.
I know bike speedo's massively overread though before anyone starts
There's a video on dumpalink of a guy hitting the 186mph speed limiter in 5th on a zx-10r too

I managed an indicated 165+ down the Mulsanne straight @ Lemans on the way back from Spain Moto Gp on my luggaged up SRAD 750 bless it, took ages for me to focus on speedo needle and had backed off too, traffic comes up quick at those speeds. Irresponsible but fun.

RR-5 Blade. 186mph on the speedo and it stops going up. Revs keep rising though! Methinks Mr.Honda has pulled a bit of a sneaky one with the 300Km/h limit!

My tl1000r hits a brick wall at 170 on the clock , Has a smaller engine sprocket than standard , with the standard one it wouldnt pull past 165
i estimate the true speed to be anywhere between 155 and 160 .
PS that was on track so no naughty boy replys

i think best of both worlds is a full system on a 750 and a power commander to make similar bhp to the 1k and you still got lotsa revs
i never understand why people feel they HAVE to have biggest bike possible.doesnt always mean its the best choice
up to you though

im with chop ,
Youll be a lot quicker and smoother / confident on a 750 , my mate can realy ride a bike but is slower on his GSXR1000 than his old tl1000

yep bigger bike dont mean your any quicker, infact i know i'm alot faster on my 600RR than i ever was on my GSXR750.
I wanted the new 1000RR but didnt see the point when i know i cant yet ride my 600RR to its maximum potential and i wonder how many people really can?
I dont doubt theres alot of riders on bigger bikes that couldnt catch a 600 that was really riden to its potential - untill the straights lol

you're right a 600 on the road can easily match a bigger bike!i was out with a few mates today and was out a couple weeks ago.i find that my mates on the 6's can go flat out everywhere and be very hard to catch at times even on my 750 because im being more careful!they dont have to worry so much about the front lifting and can nail the throttle open all the time!
im sorry but cant think of anythin worse than havin a 1000cc bike!
