Default Canary Islands

Planning on going on holiday there this October and will rent a bike for a couple of days to do some exploring - the question is, which island is best?

I've never been to any of them, so don't know what they are like. Tenerife seems like the best option, but Fuerteventura or Lanzarote are probably also quite good aren't they?

Tenerife or Fuerteventura were my two favorites, didn't like Lanarote so much. Would say Tenerife had better nightlife, when I first went, Veronicas strip was a bit moody, felt a bit daunting walking around late at night pissed, but its supposed to be better now. Los Christianos was a much nicer part.
I'd say Fuerteventura slightly better beaches....

I went to playa parisio in teneeeife mate!
Was lovely quite and relaxing at night there were a few bars open right till 6am so cocktails were flowing! The resort had the usual but after a few days we had to go out further to other resorts like Los Christianos and Los Americas thy were 20 min cab journey for 10 euro ! Night life was mental in both parts( again go down the wrong street you prob get mugged after mid night) all in all 10-10 for me

If its more scenery your after, then I'd definitely say Fuerteventura. There is a massive kite festival at flag beach October/November, would make for some good photography. Also, there's the (now scant) remains of an old steam ship slowly breaking up, (might be too late already?) on the west side of the island iirc and the skeleton of a massive whale, mounted on stilts, which is quite an sight.

No one mentioned Gran Canaria....?

I enjoyed a few holidays there in my time so far. Gorgeous island, amazing scenery, volcano in the middle (obviously inactive!) which formed the island. Plenty to do, and amazing spots to see. I think it is the biggest island too.

Went to Gran Canaria years ago, it turned out they were having a heat wave, it was mega hot, even the locals were flaking out, loads of shops and bars had shut. Nice place, but we didn't do much due to the heat.
What we did see of it, I wouldnt of said the scenery was as good as Fuerventura.

For sure. Everytime I have been there (height of their summer) it has been seriously hot. Although I like the heat (BELOW 38C!), and often work abroad around the equator in serious heat, hanging on ropes checkin' welds; Gran Canaria has been too hot on a good few days at that time of year for me.

Can't remember what time of year we went, but bloody hot! Not complaining though, rather be too hot than too cold!!

One time I was there at a dock (supposed to be) working, height of their summer, the sun only casting a small oval shadow round your feet; and we all had to lay low in the shade, STILL lashing sweat. Nasty.

Just checked the weather there today, and it's shit, lol! Only 30C, warm enough for most, but not exactly hot.

But, August was the roaster I mentioned above.

Ive been to most of the islands and they are all pretty much the same, theres a good grill place in Tenerife next to the marina mixed grill for about 8 euros and ice cold beers 1 euro

Also the trip up to the volcano is well worth doing, very nice drive up aswell.

And the jets ski at Tenerife are dam fast!

just got back from a week on tenerife. great place once you got away from the coast, although the far north east and north west are nice. hired a 350 maxi scooter in the end, good laugh scraping the centre stand through the bends. superb roads up in the mountains, and fantastic scenery.
