I have my first track day booked next week at knockhill, never done one before, i was looking for some pointers, anything to take along that i wouldnt have thought of? Going to obviously take the bike to the track by van but what else , petrol.........etc? how much?? Its an open session so could be out on track all day. Any input would be appreciated.

Just worried that it will bloody rain! Got a set of slicks there that have been used and theres some racetechs on the gixxer just now, which would you put on?

i have 2 sets of slicks for me track bike, i'm going to sell them both and get some diablo corsas cause i read somewhere that if your not with in 15 seconds of the big boys you cant get the heat into slicks and a sticky road tyre would be a better option
tyre pressure gauge and footpump
plenty of drinking water and bananas/energy bars etc
doing 20 minute sessions *7 in a day uses two tanks. you wouldn't want to do much more than 20 minutes at a time, but if it's open sessions you will probably do about 20 on / 20 off so you'll need enough fuel for 3 tanks i would say. most tracks have petrol for sale though.

Here are a few tips for your first ever track day from Mr. Tiff Needel from Fifth Gear. The first and most important one: if you have a high performance car you have to take it to the track at least once to realize its full potential (and we'd like to add: "don't realize that on public roads!").
Tiff Needel gives you his tips in this video while driving an Audi S3 that develops 260 hp.
Here are a few of Mr. Needel tips: don't rush, don't accelerate too soon and don't brake too soon.

Well i had a great day, apart from my mate getting highsided and breaking both his wrists! But i think i did pretty well, had a couple of guys coming up and asking some questions about the bike and they couldnt believe it was my first time! By the end of the day i was putting in 58 sec laps? i think, so was pretty chuffed with myself!
heres some pics.

loving it, cant wait for the next one.
