Default First Rideout of 2009 with pics.

Got the bike MOT'd and taxed last week and was shocked to find i only did 817 miles last year on her !!

So met up with my friend Steve aka on his shiny new RSVR Factory after the old one got smashed into and written off.

Went out up to Bude and along the north coast road and had a really good, but very cold afternoon

Only saw one other Mille out, a Red 2003 one

Few pics from today

And one of goon boy Steve himself :nana:nana

i love the look of the new one with much nicer front and twin pipes, but not as much as i like the rsv4 coming soon

done some work on my rsv recently - oil and filter change, cleaned oil tank outlet filter, cleaned and lubed chain and changed the clutch jet from 0.75mm to 0.4mm which is supposed to make gear changing nicer and getting neutral easier. haven't ridden it since doing it, so can't say what effect it might have had

Hmmm what exactly do you need to do there?

my gixxer clutch feel is AWFUL. fucking heavy and sore after a while in town. i'm going to get the cable swapped but had heard you can change something else. i wonder if thats what you mention.

probably not the same on your bike. this is some jet that feeds oil pressure to the clutch somehow and reduces the drag apparently. probably specific to the rotax engine. nothing to do with the clutch actuation which is by hydraulic master cyclinder and slave cylinder

as yours is a cheap muck suzuki, you have a cable operated clutch. what you need is probably a different clutch lever with more leverage (more travel = less force). probably all on the forums somewhere. alternatively, stop being a limp wristed girl and ride more so that you get used to it

Cheers for all the nice comments

The new one is nice to ride, but just seems a bit too easy to go fast on like a Jap in-line 4. Mine is hard work but rearding to ride fast.

Nick: Did Silverstone in January a few years back and it was proper cold and wet. But strangely still very enjoyable

don't know if it's because of the jet change, or just fresh oil, but gearbox much easier to use now

have you done this mod Richie?

i get my parts from http://www.apriliaparts.co.uk which is basically the parts department of DK Motorcycles

easy job mostly as it is just undo a bolt, undo the jet with a flat blade screwdriver, remove the jet and replace. the problem is in extracting the jet as it is still deep in the hole once completely undone. i got mine out in the end by using an easyout, you know the left handed threaded tools used to get out snapped bolts?

i've got an open airbox with foam filter and akrapovic for mine (with chip), but haven't fitted them yet. it's pretty loud how it is as standard, so god knows what it would be like with them. not sure i need the extra few bhp either really. what am i saying?
