Best bike upto 250?

2 stroke = blow ups and money!!LOL They all blow up at some time and are more hassle then they are worth IMO for the road.
Tell you what, have ago on an old RG500 trwo sroke for some proper shit your pants scary moments, wheelies at just the thought of it, back end wonders and has a mind of it's own over a ton and always leave plenty of braking distance as the brakes are shite!!LOL Doubt there many left now, probably all been written off!!LOL
Anyway personally I would by a nice 600 Four Stroke like an R6, they must be a few second hand cheapy's out there now, or the good old faithfull CBR 600 to start with and then more back up to a man's bike after a year or so.
Cheers,
Dan

Monte......i have had the RG500 RD500LC and NS400R..........proper bikes.
RG500...wheelied on power, but my feet used to hit the floor goin round a corner..LOL....the rev counter started from 3500rpm and it had a viscious but abruptly ending powerband.(Once opened it up and my mate flew off the back by not holding on properly as he thought 4 strokes were faster )
RD500...my favourite handled really well i thought front heavy so no power wheelies but a lovely spread of power from the YPVS system.
NS400R...cracking handler but sounded sooooooo gay with its V3 engine,DEP end cans didnt really help alot to give it a better note.

When i did mine....the examiner saw you about 10% of the test you just rode round in a figure of 8 in a town...the examinar had to walk thru alleyways etc to see you...now they follow you on another bike...so much harder!!!!

Lee,
The reason they say you're more likely to bin a stroker is because to make any prgress at all you have to thrash the arse off it!! Whereas it's very possibly to ride sensibly with a 600, just using the torque & short-shifting through the box & yet still make reasonable progress.
OMG, my Dad told me he did his like that. Showing your age there Phil

Depends if you're as skillfull as me mate Quite a bit harder than the car test IMO. I took my bike test first in order to miss out on all this restricted to 33bhp for 3 years bollocks or whatever they brought in. Did a 3 day intensive course in Cesspool
Even if you don't get a motorbike I've been told by alot of people who have taken their bike test after their car test (including 2 advanced police motorcyclists) that it makes you soooooo much more aware & a better driver in a car.
Cheers,
Ian

i found this helped loads when doing my bike test last yr.
when riding you have to be soooooooo aware of all other cluless pricks on the road
if you've had m8's who are bikers when you aint that helps ya be more aware of bikers and on the rd in general too
and which bike to get?depends how big you are.i'm 6ft 4odd and ridin m8s cbr400 was fun but too cramped.cant imagine there bein too much room on a 250 either.
sit yer full test buy a 600 and i promise you wont look back
phil
why ya sell the R6 she was lovely
buyin another 2wheel toy? hope so just so long as it aint a bmw

600 is a good starter if you have any riding experiance or comen sence...Only for brand new riders who aint even been near a bike should go for a 4...Then again if you a big lad...like me at 6ft1" and 17 stone i kinda swamp a 400 and a 600 is pretty much a good base.....
Good luck m8 youll be fine just respect them and the road and keep ya fecking eyes pealed for the coooonts who dont look at junctions.
