You may also find those who will cover you will not insure anything older than a T reg.

www.dayinsure.com

i can highly recomend this company!

works out on average between £25-£27 for a days insurance, even on ST's/Turbo car's! I can also recommend taking out the £1.80 Breakdown Day cover available when doing the insurance forms there is a box to tick! They are very helpful, get to you quickly and recover you back home or upto 100 miles!

used them a fair few times

If you know someone who works at a main dealer then use their 7 days free service, I did this to pick a car up from Kent last week, its 100% legal and wont cost a penny.

Get a mate to drive it who has the DOC addition on their policy. Providing the car isn't registered to him and it's taxed and MOT'd you're laughing. Just double check whether the car has to be insured by the owner as thi sis a very grey area and opinion varies.
