Just going for my test soon and got a escort cosworth replica were would be the best place to insure it and is it best to insure my car with the body kit on my claim or not because if a get away with not putting body kit on my claim will think about putting rs turbo engine in it wil be ok for a first car

Footman James are very good. I have a multi car policy with a saph 2wd pretty standard and a heavily modified rally spec Mini (british one not the german wannabe) and the missus has a Nissan Micra. £420 fully comp on all unlimited mileage for both of us. I was payin £700 for the cossie alone prior to this.

I was so impressed with the quote I thought the woman said £1420 and after confirmation that there was no 1 in front I asked for it in writing.

Well known company too.

let's just hope the Conservatives give us our tax free in 2 or three years on our 25 year old cars.

Bloody labour freezing it at 1972.

I think it depends on insurer and car. I've had mine insured as a classic for a while now, I think they do allow for cars with classic or cult potential. I would be surprised if a 1991 would not make it into the classic bracket.

In fact I would think that for escort cossie owners it would be worth asking the question now.

I could not get classic insurance for an 83 motorbike but I could get it for my 88 saph so it's always worth asking.

Usually, classic car polices are more about your circumstances than the car, eg it must be kept off road, limited mileage, second car etc

Right come next week i'll be 25 so its finally time to insure my cossie.. I wanna use footman james but im confused how you guys with cossies are covered by them yet it says no modified cars on there site here?..

https://fjquotesonline.co.uk/CoreQuo...duct=1&Style=3

Dont wanna waste my time ringing up and being on old just to find out they wont insure mods.

cheers

Mines on a multi car policy. But judging by some of the replies above I think you will get a good deal on a single car policy.

It will be worth asking about mods as one of my cars is a heavily modified rally spec mini and they cover that. It started life as a London themed Mini which were the base 998cc models in their day. Now it has a 1300 rip snorter with wide arches, big wheels rollcage etc.

Mine has just come up for renewal and £400 for 3 cars including 3 points and business use on all 3 it's worth the gamble. also for a land line call to 0844 I think it's a flat rate of 5p or something so it won't cost a fortune!

Just looked at the link and most insurance companies put that for their online quotes. It does not mean they wont cover you, you just have to speak to someone.

Good luck and post your results it will be interesting to see.

Cheers for the reply mate, sure it has helped a few of us on this thread.

Ive just turned 25 today! (well yesterday now its gone midnight) so will finally be insuring my saph. i also have a daily runner so will hopefully be able to do a muticar with footman james, seems like they'll be fine insuring a modified cossie then, will give them a bell.

cheers

3dr quotes were about 100 more

was on to footman james yesterday.....

They told me that they couldnt insure me as my saff was too heavily modified and had too great a power hike

I said a few people off here had insurance with themselves on high powered cossies but they said thats probably because theyve been with them a while as their rules have just changed!

If the car had of been standard it would have been 172.70 for the year BUT since its not, everyone wants a bare minimum of 1200!!!!....last year was 1000....I dont understand?????

The car is a second car and does less than 1k a year
