Fibreglass rs500 bumper
I have
- but its probably worth more than the car im putting it on
I want a decent rs500 front bumper so I can keep mine safe - or i may just have to bite the bullet and get the std 3dr fibreglass copy front bumper repaired, but would rather have a 500.

Jimmy - yes i know he does - but unless he is taking off and selling it i dont see how i will get it. Also his one started out as an original and he had the air intake modified which ended up costing a fair bit i imagine so not far off original 500 price.

Righthooker - i would prefer one that fits
what have you got on your motor? gen or rep?
I wouldnt have bothered about putting a bumper on it if the one that is on there didnt need repairing

we will be working with ronnie amis later this year on developing a GOOD QUALITY grp 500 front bumper and rear spoiler which will give the benifit of the 500 looks but not the price so owners arnt afraid of de-valuing their cars on the track, as you say leave the genuine parts at home for shows etc.

Mines an old glass one Ran...Fit and forget
When ronnie needed one i think by a process of elimination we worked out mine was from "smith and deacon " as it had the 500 splitter as part of the bumper..My painter didnt moan too much so it cant have been that bad..The glass ones tend to be over sized so you can push the wings out to help with larger rubber

On my black 3 door i have genuine , for the white track car i bough tone of here but it is to flared when it wraps around the wings and sticks out , so i bought one off ebay just before crimbo seems to fit well when offered up. will try to find the link .
My first fibreglass bumper was from smith and deakin as broadmoor found out for me,
it was a perfect fit! But it got smashed to pieces on track,
the one I have now I bought second hand and the guy couldn't remember where he got it from. But it was a shocking fit!! Had to do lots to get it to fit nicely,
as raj said he will be making a fibreglass front bumper and will be working on getting it a perfect fit,

I shall give Ronnie a text now and see if he can get the smashed bumper over to us as I know this was a perfect fit before it got damaged. We are moving to new premises before xmas but should be able to get the moulds knocked up very early in the new year

Varies SO much, anything from about 200-500
At least it can take a few knocks then though.
My genuine 500 bumper took a big whack when my car was written off and there was only a slight crack on the bumper which we repaired, if that was a fibreglass one it would be in a million pieces.
You pay more for the original ones, but at least they stay worth something long term and dont ever need replacing unless you have the sort of accident that rights the car off anyway!

Chip - i know what you mean about knocking a genuine 500 bumper and it staying in one peice - been there and got the T shirt

thing is tho i dont want to spend 200 quid on a genuine bumper as i prefer the 500 looks and if it smashes fuck it - nothing a bit of cable ties that the drift boys use cant fix

on another note, although the genuine bumper may be stronger in the first place, its a lot harder to repair, with grp you can cut pieces out and rebond/gel patches in to look as good as new. Im guessing the ford bumper is made from abs or pp so once moulded it will be very hard to repair with a strong bond, I would of though only plastic welding of 3m plastic adesive would do? but this would leave an obvious repair which would sort of defeat the idea of having nice original parts.
I looking forward to making one of these now
I have text the kid ronnie so waiting for a reply, if anyone else has some damaged front bumers which fitted well then get in touch

Moulding in the splitter too would be genius, partly because it would be an intergrated part so couldnt be robbed as easily and partly cause each would help to strengthen the other too.
Really good idea IMHO

If you are going to take a mould off a genuine one, make sure you do it with the bumper on the car as they flex like mad and are a bitch to get straight even on a car, otherwise the mould wont be true and the finished rigid copy will end up a crap fit
Would it be cheaper to repair the splitter part of the bumper if it was built in , than just getting another splitter and bolting it on the bumper in the event of a knock .
Splitters are very easy to whack and smash off , so wont it be worse if it's part of the bumper?
