I was just booking my Golf GTi in for a service, when he asked the mileage he said do i want an engine flush, so i asked him what it did and basically said it flushes out all the crap and gives the engine a better chance.
Is it worth doing for the extra £12 he wants?

Wouldn't waste the money personally.
On an old engine, it can cause the carbon deposits to be removed, which, in cases can cause engine issues with things like leaks.
On a newer car, unless it has not been serviced for something like 40k, it is a waste of time and money.
