Very interesting discussion on RR power figures.
What are everyones goals, many people on this forum have impressive cars, much better than mine. However, once you have spent the money to achieve 400 - 500ps, what next?
Interesting would be everyones 0-60 times, then the actual ps figure does not matter. Target could be M Hadlands time of 2.998 secs and not his max power figure.
looking forward to everyone hitting me with their times.

If people honestly think a tiny 2kw fan can give anything like the cooling required for not only the intercooler and radiator but also the air flow both under and over the car then they live in cloud cuckoo land.
If you need me to quote figures I can. I have had numerous cars that I have done, run on several rolling roads throughout the country. When I have done this I have done thermal surveys monitering all manner of temperatures both on and around the engine. The results after being on a RR are absolutely shocking!
I am not here to argue about this, but simply to explain why I often advise my customers that running on the RR is at their own risk and why I don't advise it unless the cooling is adequate. Once an engine has overheated, irreversible damage can be done, often resulting in major components such as the cylinder head needing replacement due to heat damage!!

Ive got steel rods and accralitte pistons so boost isnt a problem - I just cant get the fuel for that boost!!
But I have got a fifth injector at home to fit and then im going to run it at about 20psi and that will be that.
As its lively enough as it is.

I am happy with the car as is now, but is gonna have a little bit more work and is due another set up.. maybe we'll see a tiny bit more boost and a bit more power Plan to keep it under 250bhp
Thanks AndyRST That GTiR was mental, sounded like nothing i've heard before scared me

I had a really good day,
I felt for Tony, It was never gonna be easy trying to get 40 cars on the rollers and keep everyone happy.
Everyone who wanted to run did so I see no problem!!
I had a really good day, my fiesta got 176BHP and 196lbs Torque, last time I got 151BHP and 172lbs Torque with a hole in the Actuator and a blown Turbo. I was really chuffed!!
Thanks to all involved and was nice to meet some new people!!

I managed to lose my house mate several times lol, the poor boy! Dragged him along as didn't want to go on my own then kept leaving him!
I felt really sorry for him with the black one, he said he was worried about it smoking on the rollers, spose that is the least of his worries!

Was a great day is the 3rd time been to PE 2nd r/r day, great to catch up with some familiar faces, sadly didn't put any new faces to names (though now assuming it was sassys kids we were smiling at saying 'ah how cute'!) people were all very friendly including PE staff, very hospitable with the coffee/bacon rolls and cakes!
Fayes cabrio looked and sounded awesome (first time seen it in the flesh) 221 a great figure, shame Alex's didn't get better than his run, well done at greyrs figure, think I missed any huge BHP cossies run but was good day, glad we popped along

Well Done Tony
I thought you organised it as well as anyone could have done, bearing in mind the amount of cars that turned up.
Bacon Butties were first class, and the constant cups of coffee well appreciated.
As for the rollers..... Well, it was down to everyone as to if they ran there car or not, the fan they used was the smallest I've seen at any rolling road, but having asked a few people what there ACT's were running, bearing in mind the the PE guys, were doing two quick runs on the cars, and not keeping the cars loaded up for more than a few seconds, also bearing in mind the weather.... It was bloody freezing, and knowing I had a huge Pro Alloy Intercooler, Rad, and Turbo Pre Cooler, I decided to run my car...... The ACT gauge indicated 35 deg centigrade during the run, so bearing in mind all the above, I took the decision to run the car.....Even after I found out that the 2wd rollers wouldn't handle over 400bhp. I've had the car on other rollers before (Re-Worx in Portsmouth...Excellent Place with brand new rollers and a huge fan) so I already knew it was going to make at least 430bhp. But what the hell, it was a good day and I'm confident no problems were caused on the day to anyones car. PE were doing very quick power runs and bearing in mind everyone elses act's and the weather, I think anyone with a good Intercooler/cooling set up will be fine.
Not a perfect set up, but on the day, I think you'll all still have good engines in your cars.
However, if it had been a hot summers day...... No, I wouldn't have ran my car with those fans......

Also, if the ACT's and Water Temps don't reach high levels, what else is there to worry about?

a fan can produce a wind speed at 1000 mph - it's irrelevant to how much airflow there is in terms of mass (or volume).
you may well blow enough air over the intercooler during the power run to keep the ACT down, but then what? you've just produced peak power from your engine that has generated rather a lot of thermal energy. where is that going to go? into the oil and water systems, yes. that's all well and good, but without airflow over the full frontal area of the car including under and over it, you can get localised hot spots in the engine where the coolant is not sufficiant, and it's those that can have lasting effects on the material of the engine as karl is trying to tell you.
i refer you to the thread where i have posted pics of the fan required to generate wind speeds of just 70 mph over the full frontal area of a car (links on page 3 of this thread). that is driven by a 200kW motor (although it is not at full capacity at 70mph).
without trying to sound arrogant, i wish that you would listen to a couple of proffessional engineers with years of experience in this sort of thing

Now I'm going to sound ignorant, but how long does the car spend on the rollers? Is it peak power when the engine is hottest, is a car running/revving long enough on a power run to risk any heat damage?
Can't remember what one they use at Engine Advantages when ran the XR4x4
As you say foreigneRS bit irrelevant now as the day has been and we all had a good time anyway

I do think the fan is totally usless for my car but then others may have better different cooling etc never seen a fan so small on a rr before .
It was the first time i habe seen my fans on on a rr
Anyways pics to follow ,cheers tone for a good day was a bit of a run but enjoyed it we will be havin 1 up here hope you and ya pals will repay the gesture and visit us maybe? im sure you would benifit from the big fans and aircon in the dyno would be an interestin comparison etc.

I'll be there
Glad you enjoyed it mate. Sorry I never got time to have a proper chat.
I never had a problem with ACT's in my car. As most people know I sat in my car with Chris, the temps started off at 40+ because of heat soak, then as the car ran with no boost they dropped to around 30ish, then after one full on run they dropped to high 20's and kept dropping. The last 3 runs were all done at 22- 24 degrees right to the rev limit.
Can't really ask for better than that imo.
