Default BHP output on 2wd cossie with 28psi

I need to know what the most BHP a 2wd saph cosworth would give running 28psi. Sounds like a strange question but I need to know so read on and bare with me..

Basically a mate had one a few years ago and it (admittedly) was very fast (I had a modded 2wd at the time and it was a different world) but someone told him it was around 400bhp. I've always been pretty sure it wasn't..

The spec was..

hmm, not a lot..

I remember it was running blue injectors and IIRC a 200 block. I can't remember the chip/map (and neither will my mate) but whatever it was the car was running 28-30 psi when we picked it up so I presume had felling to accommodate.

Other than the injectors and boost level everything appeared standard (intercooler, turbo etc)

Now the car was ballistic, and a friend told him it was knocking on feeling 400bhp.

I've always thought with the turbo and intercooler limiting things it would be nowhere near this level, it did feel very healthy though.

I was just interested in a sort of 'best case scenario' of the power level from someone 'in the know' reason being is because he's now buying an Evo 8 and I'm trying to convince him he'll easily get some decent power out of it. But when I mention 380bhp he harks back to the 400bhp cossie.

I suspect if it was a 'good one' it would have been running circa 340bhp?

it would be very hard to get over 300 with standard turbo and intercooler

yeah standard turbo and intercooler will be a big limiting factor here!

probs just over 300 bhp tops

i have probs a genuine 450 and my spec is ALOT bigger than just blues etc

Depends what you mean by standard. If it had a standard EscCos T34 and intercooler/chargecooler and running 28psi held on light blues id say it could be 350bhp or so.

But on Saff Cossie bits, barely 300bhp

If its running around 28-30 id imagine its not a standard turbo, most lily a t34 as others have mentioned...

Mine peaks 28 and hols around 26 and im hoping for around the 350 mark, also running light blues and pro alloy cooler

Ill tell you tomorow once its been on the rollers

Thanks lads.

To be fair it must have been an escort blower then.

As I say my gestimate would be around 340bhp from the butt dyno I've had dyno proven 350bhp evo's and it felt quicker than those, but obviously a lot of that will be becasue of less transmission loss. But as I suspected no way 400.
