Default postage?

A few months ago I ordered a few bits from the US and now I got a letter from FedEx wanting 27.60 from me

I paid quite a bit for the delivery so why are FedEx wanting money from me? Can I ignore it and if they contact me again tell them to ask the seller for it?

It does say Duty/Taxes charges on the letter. I thought it was up to the seller to pay for all the postage costs if they tell you the price it gonna cost and you pay it?

What will happen if I ignore it? Will I get a court letter asking for it or will they try to contact me again?

thanks

customs could just enter your house any time and take the value you owe them...

Its your responsibility to pay it, not the senders.

You are the importer, although why if it was a few months ago they are now only just chasing you for it is a mystery to me.

Ignore it at your peril.

Buying stateside can initially be cheaper but does have hidden costs to be added sometimes - always worth considering for future.
