How Shite is Broad band
Yo Mi Homies
since i have had this fooking Broad band service i have had nothing but fooking trouble with fooking virus's it's driving me loopy
anyway, Ish fair play to him has sorted a good few out ..... and we have spent a couple of hours tyring to sort it out
I have got Norton A.V. and a Sygate fire wall and the little bastards still are getting through somehow .
i have got this one that pops up and say that my p.c is shutting down and it does
i done a scan with AD-aware 6.0 and it found another 50 virus or something new ..... i tick them all and it has got rid of some
i don't know the names of the virus but some are SPY BOT...and others are TROJ blazefinda
TROJ DOS
DOS.AGOBOT
LSERV.EXE
VIDEONS 32.EXE
SYSTEM 32
SBCU.EXE
the best one is the lserv 32 that give sme about 50 sec internet time before it shuts down......
if i don't sort this out i will fix the virus with a lump hammer and break them in to tiny pieces
Don't know if any of you lot have had any since going on broad band
i never ever got a virus on 56k dial up and 4 yrs of owning a p.c.
any tips anyone .....and don't say , "don't put black polish on brown shoes"
cheers in advance

To stop the auto-shutdown, do:
Start Menu -> Run -> shutdown -a
I'm using: router (with firewall & filtering rules), serving a static-NAT network with daily-updated Mcafee on all machines......not received a virus for a very long time, the ones that spread by connection can't connect directly to any machine on the network as they don't have publically-accessible IP addresses, any email-viruses are caught and removed by either the mailserver at the ISP they go through, or if they do get to me, auto-deleted by the AV software.

You may have to bite the bullet and reinstall. When they've been allowed to run riot you never know what's happened. Whatever you do don't go back to Norton.

I need to format mine soon, to sort out these partitions (I've got two physical drives, 180Gb & 120Gb, each with three partitions each - silly idea) and Partition Magic refuses to read all 6 partitions, and bombs out......may try disabling one, to see if it works then.

Marco, won't a defrag' fix it??
If I was closer, I'd sort it out for ya dude, but I have confidence in Ish Gates
You deffo need to do a Windows update from what you are saying, and scrap your shonky av/fw software and get some proper stuff on the job....
Fastmaul, MAC's are good for one thing........
And just for you as you mentioned kettles etc.

my comp is shit since i've had broadband...running windows XP pro & it takes ages to log onto the net!
we keep getting loadsa viruses cos any firewall we did have stopped my bros comp from being able to be online the same time as the others, so now we just have to reformat it loads & run adaware all the time!

marco have you heard of this antivirus prog.....petrol & match 2004....use that on your pc and i promise you will NEVER get a virus again
i did try and fix his pc over msn remote asisstance but it was taking too long!
the main reson marco is getting viruses is that he has NO windows updates installed. not even SP1 and his firewall was disabled due to an error with it.
don't worry mcguiness i will sort it out on the weekend for ya
