Default Identifying a Maram shafted turbo? update with pics

i got a T34 with .63 ex housing on it, and tonight i took the ex housing off.

the shaft has 2 something 7 stamped on it, i cant tell the middle number cos there is a hole in the end of the shaft.

now ive heard that maram shafts are 247 - is that correct?

it looks like either 217 or could be a 4 but i can only see the the very top of the middle number, but its closer to the 7 than the 2 if that makes sense lol?

i know maram shafts are non magnetic, but i aint got a magnet to check lol

my .63 housing has no markings whatsoever on the turbine wheel? so i guess yours must be maram'd up just run anti lag and see how long it lasts

you what?

got any pics at all?

i bought it having supposedly covered 100 miles.

but it does have FOOK ALL play in it, and looks like its pretty new.

so cant imagine its been used for rallying.

so could it be a maram shaft?

i need to learn lots about turbos asap

that blue bit needs to be removed pal , have a look at it internal diameter, it will be 34mm, as per rallying regs, so it needs to be opened up mate, to more like 60mm, other wise you'll have a hell of a problem

no no, you dont understand what im trying to explain.

mine doesnt have a restrictor, its got a normal looking inlet bit, ie about 1/2 an inch longer that the pic rad put up if you ignore the blue restrictor.

the silver screwy bit im on about is between the oil feed and the water feed, tapped into the main housing bit that hte shaft passes through.

as i said, a pic will speak a million words lol, but i aint got any pics...

I think you might mean that it has a space for an Exhaust gas temperature or lambda sensor?

cheers Tony, it does look kinda like that but id say the middle mark is a bit closer to the 7 than the 2.

ill try and get some pics tomoz but not sure if ill get time to go over where it is.

also the numbers are nearer the middle of the shaft too.

and the blades look different but if its a T4 then i guess they prolly would lol.

its measured for optimum operating speeds and so as not to overspeed the turbine, as for how, the last one i saw was an optical sensor on it but i never saw what they had on the shaft to pick up from, could be the gap in the front ring
