Default Neigbour just been car jacked!

Just had police round.

House opposite has a mint Megane Sport 225. The wife was driving, got home at 9pm. 3 lads were waiting, dragged her out of the car.

I was meant to be going to Stockport today on my own in my cossie to look at a car for sale. The more I thought about it, the more scary it became with the recent crime theft there, so I bottled out of it and will only go when I can find someone to come with me.

To a twat it's easy prey, woman/man parking car throw them out and bobs your uncle. No anti hijack system will work, unless you have a second fob at the ready, in which most cases they will come back and kick your head in and take the car anyway

I presume you have to switch the engine off for the Blackjaxx thingy to work once started again???

I supose the criminals know this as well??

you need to put the valet code before you start the car OR if the engine left running you would need to put the code in again if the door was opened.

Agreed.

James - you know how the Clifford system works re: opening the door with engine running/valet etc etc

Rob had it on his old Focus RS. Can't tell you how many times I got 200 yards down the road, pushed the brake to come to a stop, and there I stayed.

Cue phonecall - "Rob, what's the valet code"

That's what I thought Dave, a female on her own in a cossie would be an easy target, plus the car I was going to see is a private sale and fook knows what I might have encountered when I got there. It's a shame that I couldn't go today as I will probably dip out now on maybe getting a good buy as I don't think the car will stay advertised for long as it was a very good price - oh well

Nope, your parking the car, guy opens door/punches window out, grabs you from the car and drives off. No way of stopping it unless you have a fob.

Clifford Blackjax... Overview by Stu.

The system operates as follows.
The car has a 2 button system on teh dash that requires you input a personal code (Of your choice) every time you get in the car...

Example:
Disarm, enter car, start engine, enter code, drive away... job done.

If you DONT:
20seconds after driving away the system will warn you by sounding the siren, flashing the ARM led and flashing all the hazzards, that you forgot. If you now key in your code, you carry on as normal. The hazards are to warn vehicles behind that the car may be a hazzard to them.

If you ignore the system, after a period of time, the brake lights start to flash to warn road users the vehicle is stopping and the imobiliser will kick in ONLY after the rpm drops low (Programmed) thus NOT taking the engine away in a 100mph chase.

The imobiliser will stay active and the sirens blaring until you key in the personal pin code directly to teh dash. The keyfobs are rendered useless.

All this will have got teh losers far enough away from you for your safety to be secured.

Cheers TemptRS but I don't think for one minute it would be a set up as the car is advertised on AutoTrader and they wouldn't know what car I'd be in or who'd be going with me. It's defo a genuine sale. I don't mind going as long as someone is with me.

I so glad I live in a military base. You get shielded from most of the car crime. You could leave your wallet lying around and all they will steal is the pen off your desk!!

Dockys and contractors are as bad as the rest of society though.

Now seriously worried about parking in a public place when I get my car back.

My Cat 2 alarm and pulling the fuel pump fuse now seems wholey inadequate.

See above... he activates the Blackjax himself by driving the car, its 100% passive.

Be carefull though as my insurence (spl) would not insure me with blackjax actually working as it made the thachtcam thing invalid,
It might be different now but you never know with them fookers
saying that i said yeah i'll remove it and never did

Insurance companies talk out of their arses pal, you need to be stern with the twats sometimes or just go elsewhere... its fook all to do with them as a company whether a system is Thatcham catagory 1 or not, its down to Thatcham and wether or not they bloody passed it.

The concept 650 is Cat 1 and it has Blackjax as STANDARD

This text is taken straight from my Clifford user manual:

"VERY IMPORTANT: Thatcham regulations prohibit engine shutdown whilst the engine is running, regardless of circumstances. Therefore, enabling this feature invalidates Thatcham evaluation."
