On the servo hose from the inlet manifold to the brake servo (zetec) theres summat that looks like an in line filter. What exactly does it do as we swapped it for a newer straight through servo hose and it made the car judder whilst drivin it?

Just interested why?

erm thats a one way valve mate, put it back in there!!!

As Wes RS said, its the one way return and the car needs it

isnt it supose to stop the servo from losing pressure for the brakes

xr4x4rs , yeah, exacly right If you pull the hose gently to one side on the servo you should hear it sucking in air when you break the seal

Thought it was summat like that!

Didnt really take much notice TBH, just asked a Fords for a replacement as the old one was a bit scraggy and pulls out of the inlet easy. Was only on for a couple of minutes. Scraggy one back on now.
