Not sounding too good for my ST170
Been having both steering (inc front wheel rubbing out on the arch) and headlight (xenon light levelling sensor) problems for a while with my standard ST170 - but had not related the two problems.
Ford have looked into them both under warranty and said there was nothing wrong with the steering/suspension (although it seemed slightly better after they had tinkered with it). However they have not managed to get the lights to self level properly after 4 visits.
I have now learn't from a few sources (and it would seem obvious) that the the headlight sensors are linked to the front transmission/suspension setup - putting 2 & 2 together makes me think there must be something seriously damaged/broken/bent up front now as the sensors are sending error signals all the time , even though the ford gimps reckons its all ok on that side of things. Also it doesn't sound like something that would be covered on warranty and is likely to be costly (xenons combined with suspension parts ).

What i'm thinking now, is that because I work on a building site, we have unfinished tarmacadam roads and therefore raised manholes, and i'm thinking either me or my missus could have hit one of these quite easily
Going to have to get it up on ramps I reckon and see if theres anything obvious going on under there

the arms are just plastic and are prone to having issues is what i got told mate,,,,,,, but they would have to see to be sure, the only way to test tbh is to change the sensor/rod assembly
once they do that they can be sure,,,,,,,,,and ffs tell em your a sales assistant at mcdonalds and not work on a building site ,,,,,,, nay aswell tell em you do rallying in the car at weekends

what it does is sense the position of the suspention movement to correct the head light level, its a tie pab type thing made of plastic i belive that bends
its also the same sensor for stability control aswell the techs told me

I think, i know this bit. I have seen it when swapping the wheels over front to back to even out tyre wear - also thought o myself WTF is that cos i don't have esp either. Hopefully it is this that is broken rather than a damaged part of the suspension - maybe it is this that is rubbing on the wheel occasionally if it is broken ?
