Default Quick turbo question

Are tiny hairline cracks on an exhaust housing anything to worry about? are they common? The housing I have has two tiny hairline cracks under the penny they don't go through the to the outside and look very minor
Best pic of them I could take

Bit of a grey area that one. The correct answer is that any crack in an exhaust housing is bad. With the heat that the housing reaches, those cracks can open up and form quite a nasty leak.

In reality however, I probably wouldn't have a turbo of mine rebuilt for cracks like those that you show in that picture.

Further to this, you would struggle to sell a housing in that condition, because most potential buyers will tell you that a cracked housing should go in the bin, unless of course it's one that they are selling, then its OK!!

there are a LOT around that will be like that, and rarely give a problem.
As with everything however, someone will always know of one that got worse..
seriously, it's very common and doesn't need to be a big problem in practice

Had a mixed reaction on it but it seems that the cracking is very common and two people (whos opinions I value) have said that this will happen to new turbo housing's within 1000miles anyway and rarely cause a problem.
