Unleaded conversions
i need an unleaded conversion done on my 1600i but seeing as it's not something specifically listed in the yellow pages i don't know what sort of places would do it . Does anyone know of places that do it in or around colchester and does anyone have a rough idea of how much it costs?

any competent engine builder should be able to do it, its not the hardest job in the word (so i'm told)
could try specialised engines or euro engines or burton power or vulcan (actually dont try vulcan) or one of those sorta places.
dont see it costing the earth...
i THINK youll need to run it on 97ron unleaded tho (ie optimax, SUL etc) as i dont think you can retard the timing on the 1600i like you can on an XR3i, RST etc. etc. coz of the coilpack... i stand to be corrected tho

Yup deffo need to run SUL. You could always use a broquet fuel catalyst instead. I ran mine on one of these and the head/valve seats were in great nick when we took it off and inspected it.

whats one of those fuel catalyst thingys?, does it come in a bottle and you just top up your petrol with it? A local garage said they used to do a thing where they put a lead ball in your petrol tank and it slowly disperses into your petrol continously and lasts for 480,000 miles!anyone heard of that?
