Is it definitely the ECU and not the CPS?

going to breakout box test wiring tommorow just wodered if its as common as standard escort for ecu problems

Some of the P8 software from the factory was a little glitchy (certain software revisions) but the ECU's themselves are reliable in my experience. Whereas the CPS, due to it's position (heat, water), would be my first (and cheaper) bet.
