Stu there are a few things you can get.

Final Scratch lets you play mp3s through regular turntables!

Tracktor is like a virtual mixing desk on your pc and can be used with Final Scratch.

Theres not much out there worth geting for PC mixing.

Links:

http://www.apple.com/downloads/macos...rdjstudio.html

http://www.finalscratch.com/

Hope this helps.

I feel the itch coming back.... could be time to dig out my old Formula Sound from the attic and buy a pair of Pioneer CDJ1000's and hook it all up to this PC for a giggle of a weekend...

All this coming from the man who said "I cant remember how to mix!"

CDJ1000's aint worth it IMO unless you like all the fancy effects and all that pap.

CDJ100's or the equivalent CDJ200 that play MP3's are pukka robust CD decks. and a dam sight cheaper too.

Stood on teh dancefloor in a few Blackpool clubs this last few months wondering how the fook DJ's who cant mix properly using bars and beats instead of just fooking beats can get a job in a 3000 capacity club has kind of reminded me that what ive forgotten still leaves me with more than some of these boys know...

What's this? midlife crisis coming on hun?

Not sure you'd get software to match with your 80's tunes?

Seriously....put me down for a copy of your first mix

Its gotta be better than that trancey bollocks you play nik!

Stu before going out and getting CDJ's get Traktor installed and learn the ropes again! Can control everything from the keyboard! It's very very easy to use!

In fact I think ill go have a mix on it now!

I agree totally.

I used to be quite good at antiphasing two tunes together using 4x SL1210s and 2 tunes both antiphased back in the good old 90s.... (Was a good trick back then and had plenty of the wavy arm brigade go mad on the floor in teh strobes and smoke ) It used to be particularly effective with 2 tunes whos names i dont recal, going to go looking for em soon so will update.... (Oceanic deffo did one... & dream tripping? Tripper?))

Seems now you can get that tricky mix perfect with just 4 mouse clicks on this fooking Traktor program

Technology =

Shame i cant get the headphones working.. Seems i need a more configurable soundcard!!

oh and in relation to the topic.. Final scratch is the only thing worth bothering with imo

But come on..... unless you cant cut your dubs to plate or only have CD's / mp3's.... Vinyl is the ONLY way to go!

BTW Stu, you never put me that Traktor thing on a disc!

I'd love to have a mess with it, even tho I too would end up buying a new soundcard

Being more into rock music than anything else though, it would certainly be interesting........

Do like some of those tunes you had on in the car mate, especially that Push Up.

I personally use 1210's and vinyl, I couldn't do the whole cd / mp3 thing it's all about the feel of the vinyl on the deck imo! I use Sound Forge to record stuff directly from the djm-600 to the PC, works a treat, and although I have been using it for years still haven't played with most of the powerful features!
