Thanks for the quote, best one I've had by far
It's my 24th Birthday next month, would it be worth waiting until then before taking out a policy? Would it make any difference to the price ?
Thanks
James

Tony, I just got my quote back. I altered my details to make me 24 and 1yr's no claims as that's what I will be when I look for the next car in April (obviously will come back and do a quote with my proper details then lol) and just wanted a rough idea.
You guys have quoted me £1700FC, and that's with my license for 1 year and 1 year's no claims. Tell you what I think that's cracking and you've just made up my mind on which car to get. I will deffo be coming back to you guys in April.
Cheers boys

Tony @ Greenlight
my only concern with the quote I had was the condition of having 12 months' experience of driving a performance car. What actually constitutes a performance car in Greenlight's eyes? In the last 12 months the closest I've had would be my 150bhp clio and my 150bhp Fiat Bravo 2.0 HGT 20 valve.
Both are considered hot hatches but are not performance cars on the same kind of level as a Cossie, Scooby etc which are "proper" performance cars.
How would this affect me and my quote? I would hope the quote would still stand as it's very good and I'm not exactly a lunatic
I'd very much like to become a greenlight customer come april if there are no complications.
Cheers,
Jay

Hi Jay,
The 150bhp hot hatch experience would be fine, its when people have driven a 1.0 corsa or the like and are looking to drive an RS500 we have an issue or two.
So, in respect of your case a hot hatch would constitute performance vehicle experience.
Hope to hear from you soon.
Kindest regards
Tony

Hi SBD,
SBD as in Steve Broughton Developments (Chessington)?.. Sounds like some throttle bodies could be involved..
We dealt with the VPCC (Vauxhall performance car club) for years and came across courtenay turbo's, SBD, Regal engineering, Vaux shop, swindon race engines, BBR etc.. so we do have a decent technical understanding of Vauxhall also..
Our underwriters had an absolute nightmare with E36 M3's, we were hit by a number of aggrevated theft claims and total losses. Which made them wholly unprofitable and rendered us uncompetitive for the M3's - great car , but bad news from an Insurance perspective .
I'd be happy to look at any quotation you need though buddy, so just PM me with your full name or prior quote reference (if any) and i'll have a look at whats been done to date for you.
Kind regards
Tony

Hi Simon,
Having checked your details against our system, a reply was sent to you on 15th November by e-mail.
It's not good news im afraid buddy, having read the e-mail that was sent we couldnt help you due to your postcode area being one thats excluded by our underwriters.
Many thanks for trying us and sorry that we couldnt help.
Kind regards
Tony

Hi Buddy,
Ordinarily we require driving experience, especially for younger drivers.
However, if there arent too many mods we may be able to help. So, if this is the case put your details onto our website & PM me to let me know.
Kind regards
Tony

Hi Kev,
Providing youre on an open mileage policy (not limited), aged over 25 years old and are not associated with the motor trade most of our underwriters will allow the Driving Other Cars (Third party cover & for vehicles not owned/belonging to you).
Hope this helps..
Kind regards

Hi Rob,
We are currently unable to cover either the province of northern ireland, or the republic of Ireland.
This is a stipulation of the underwriters that we deal with. Some of them do transact business within Northern Ireland, but their stipulation is that you have to have a branch in Ireland and have good knowledge of the local area's/communities to write.
We deal with a software company in Coleraine and have visited Northern Ireland on numerous occasions, in addition have visited county Cork, Derry and Kilkenny.
Whilst in Ireland we noticed numerous performance and modified vehicles and there is clearly a demand there.
The advice that we were given when attempting to write business in Ireland was that the historic problem was the compensation for injury claims in Ireland could be considerable and was determined by the local magistrate for each individual case.
Civil disturbance or terrorism is not a problem to Insurers, as they are ultimately able to recover from the government/state.
We would love to write business in Ireland, it's just that we have not found an underwriter willing to do so via an English broker to date.
If the situation changes in the future we will post to make you aware.
Kindest regards
Tony Fehily

Hi Rudey,
We can definitely cover that profile buddy, the only problem that we have is our underwriters are allergic to certain high risk/poor performing postcode area's and if youre within one of those postcodes we would be unable to help.
Thats really our only restricting factor, so other than that we're good.
Either PM me the postcode so I can check or simply get her to pop her details onto our website at www.greenlightinsurance.com/Passion_ford.php
Thanks for the interest!
Kind regards
Tony

Passion ford Gold membership would give a further 5% discount on top of the basic 7.5% forum member discount that was already allowed.
So in your case you will benefit from a further 5% off the quote given.
Kind regards

Well I'll tell you what, if that isn't reason for me to become a gold member before I get the next car, I dunno what is. I'll still save an additional £65 after paying out the £20.
