Yes but if your screen has little imperfections and/or chips in it (eben tiny ones you might not see) then rapidly changing the temperature of the glass with hot water casues the glass to expand at to great a speed, which can cause it to crack without warning.

I know - I spent two years fitting windscreens and every winter we'd get 30+ windscreen a week that had the same thing happen to em
