same goes for stu he has helped me out with lotrs of info & asks for nothin in return!
we should appreicate when the pro's help us out but also understanmd when they cant! caus elets face it if it was easy & there werent trade secrets we would all have home built monster engines!
think every1 should chill we make r turner decision & thats that really dont c the point in slaggin off some1 else just cause there car aint built by the same bloke as u!

10K+ Poster!!
Karl has always come across as having a spicy edge, even when I didnt know him he told me blatently certain things about my car was shit, infact utter shit
I tied with the idea of not using him, but as I got to know him I realised the parts he was on about WERE shit and he just tells it as it is.
Thats how it should be and I wouldnt consider taking my car anywhere else, be it an XR2 or my new escos I'm saving for.
If you got to know him properly, I think ud find he quite a sound chap.
Karl always quotes using conservative (realistic) figures as well so if his 3dr was ever taken to a rolling road (god forbid ) running full boost and flat out, you would probably find it would make well over 700bhp. Probably 900bhp at one by me
I'm sure he will prove his 200+mph in his own time and take on a few famous people off this board IN HIS OWN TIME, until then, get ur own cars ready
Rant over

Keef, fookin Lincoln lads! pah! I don't need anyone else!
Karl on a serious note, you say that your engine has aided you to develop better things for your customers cars etc (which is cool and welldone) but have you considered what your car would be like in comparison to the other big HP cosworths out there so that you have a true comparison to the rest of the world. Eg. How do you know that lets say one of your 600hp cossie's is faster than another tuners 500 or 600hp cossie to say 180mph, what it's like in comparison from say '50mph to 100mph etc etc. I know of another big power cosworth on the road that is up for a dual with you.
I have been out in a fair few 500bhp cossie now and have come to the conclusion that a true 500bhp cossie is going to be fast (as it's 500bhp) however whether it's a quick 500bhp or not is another question.
More to the point, there have been instances where claimed 500hp cars have raced much lower powered car's and lost...this happens all too often. I am not debating whether your car is XXX amount of horsepower however stating more of a point. I hope you understand and take my post in the proper context that it was intended in.
Thanks - Sunny.

So if the car only made 530 @ wheels @ 7k that don't mean jack then does it ?
A little confused to what you are saying there sunny......
Its not claimed cause its been proved to have at least 600bhp.

Just because a car makes 530hp @ the wheels for example on a rolling road it doesnt mean that it is quick / fast on the actual road. What does it pull like at for example 3000rpm? Does it have good responce and drivability in certain area's etc? In real terms what is it like in 3rd gear from for example 50mph to 70mph etc? Until timed and compared with the other cars in it's league in reality it doesnt really prove much does it? That's my point.
Lastly, there's not much point proving anything on a rolling road as we all know that we race our cars on the real road (meaning at Brunters in a controlled environment or at another event such as TOTB).
Thanks - Sunny.

Well i am sure it hit 186 before the top of the hill @ brunters, but i can't be sure.
I have also been in loads of 500bhp cossies, and none feel like karls.
Pull from 3k i doubt will be that decent as its off boost, as are most 500bhp cossies, but never drove it LOL.....
The fact it revs to 9 means 3k dont get used.........i know this from having the crx LOL

Sunny, I agree with what you say about power bands, usable power etc.
To be quite honest my car is slow below 5000rpm. It still drives smoothly like a std car, but does not make any appreciable boost until 5000rpm. From 5000rpm onwards it then makes a minimum 400lbf ft right through to the 9000rpm limit so is great to drive once you're up in the rev range.
I can't do 50 - 70 in 3rd as the car does 95mph in 2nd, BUT 50 - 90 in 2nd is excellent as its just come on boost at 50mph.
The problem with shootouts is a lot is down to driving ability and style. I'm not saying I'm a shit driver but i do take a rather mechanically sympathetic style with my car since the transmission simply is'nt up to the job of the power.
As time and money allow I continually improve the car but it is far from being able to utilise all the power available reliably.
I'm all too aware the gossiping that goes on at events and afterwards, and I refuse to let my car be timed in public until it has the reliability to do the engine justice.
In terms of how it compares to other cars I can only say that of the 200 or so Cossies I setup each year, none even come close. It really is in a ball park all of its own but then that is of no suprise considering the high spec of the engine.
I've been more interested in what factors wear/break on this engine at these elevated power levels and revs, and it's certainly raised issues I had'nt even thought about on traditional 500bhp cars.
I'm now in a situation where I can advise and offer engine builds up to 700bhp, which without the development thats gone into my own car would not have been possible without using the customer as a guniea pig.

Very good point Daz, I've got to say theres going to be a few cars soon with VERY similar engines to mine so for those who simply have to see proven times, I hope my customers/friends cars do all the proving necessary!
I know for sure Daz will use every last bhp I give him!!!!
