Default CLUTCH SLIP

JUST FITTED A STANDARD FORD CLUTCH TO A SERIES1 AND IT SLIPS IN 4TH / 5TH CAR HAS BEEN SLIGHTLY MODIFIED BUT NOT SURE AS YET TO WHAT DEGREE HAS ANYDODY EVER COME ACROSS THIS


OWNER HAS TURNED DOWN BLEED VALVE WHICH HAS STOPPED SLIP BUT NOW CAR FEELS SLOW

NOT SURE WHAT BOOST ITS RUNNING YET ANY IDEAS?

if it's 160+bhp it WOULD be pot luck as to when it will slip on a standard clutch

can anyone quickly give me standard boost and bhp ratings please to save me going to work and looking them up

8-10 psi on standard and 130bhp ish iirc

Standard clutch is generally ok to around 200bhp, sometimes more (couple of people on here did 220bhp).

It will need a bit of time to bed in though... my 4 paddle slipped for a little while, so drove it easy for a bit (not slipping it) and then it started gripping just fine!

is that a standard clucth that needs to be bedded in .. i have fitted hundreds over the years and never had this problem

totally agree with the above, but if its a standard S1 clutch its only 200mm wheras the S2 is 220, most people fit the S2 clutch & flywheel combo, that should be good for 200bhp.
did the guy who changed the clutch check the condition of the flywheel?

yep did it myself and it did have the larger flywheel fitted at 220 mm flywheel was spot on
