Default Does T-3 cossie turbo need water cooling???

Does a sapph 2wd stage 1 really need watercooling on the standard T-3 turbo.
The car is used daily and 2 or 3 times a year he goes to the ring and some burn-outs

Not my car by the way.

Well Rene there is a problem.
It's for my brothers car, i just placed a new turbo on his a car and now it's leaking water on the back of the turbo.
And on thuesday i'm off for holiday, and if i can't get i sorted then i plug the watercooling off and then drive the car to JPcars, that's why i asked it

Cheers Ruud

not a case of it being hp related, its a case of using the correct cooling for the type of bearing housing that the turbo uses.

the ones designed for no water cooling have increased capacity oil galleries to compensate

id say it will be fine to temporarily run it water free until its fixed properly

did you replace the copper washers that go either side of the banjo connections? they need to be "tight as you can plus 2 full turns"

I didn't run water on my T3 for three years - it was fine.

I don't run water on my T34 (18 months) - still fine.

i agree with richard first thing i ever do is take the water off, it was only ever put there to make the heaters get hot quicker, just make sure you leave it idling for a couple of minutes (as you should do anyway) before switching off. cheers nomad
