Default bottom end balancing

bought a second hand 1.6 cvh bottom end consising of,,

forged pistons
steel rods
l & b crank etc,,,,

will be running full cosworth p8 management on greens/3 bar/ t34 .68 etc

ive had it looked over & been given a clean bill of health but the engine did not come with flywheel or clutch,,,,i have got a new 4 paddle clutch & had a standard rs turbo flywheel skimmed ready to go on

but should i pull out the crank/rods/pistons & put on the new flywheel & clutch & have it all balanced as 1 before the head goes on

or do you think it will not make much difference???

i copied prices from SPECIALISED ENGINES IN GRAYS to give me a rough idea & its only around £77 to do it all

Engine Balancing :

All static and Dynamic Balancing is carried out on the premises. While-U-Wait service for 4-Cylinder Engines. For all V-type engine balancing, we require one complete piston con rod, bearing set, damper, flywheel, clutch and all relevant bolts.

(1)Half balance - 4 pistons and rods (top end): £38.50

Half balance - 6 pistons and rods (top end): £58.00

Half balance - 8 pistons and rods (top end): £72.00

(2)Half balance - 4 cylinder crank, flywheel, clutch, damper and all necessary nuts and bolts. (bottom end): £38.50

(3)Full balance : As 1 and 2 above - 4 cylinder : £77.00

opinions please

i reckon for around £77 its rude not to

cheers

Worth getting it done, no idea if specialized are any good.

Burtons have a good rep, but just send all their work to the engineering shop next door.
