Without knowing the exact model and mods bit of a guessing game but if it was a UK spec item it could of been running around 220hp which would mean you should of been leavin him quite easily with yours only being 2 wheel drive/lighter and all. If it was in good shape and well looked after it could of been running around 280hp - 300hp in this state straight line performance would probably be around the same I would guess.
I would guess your S1 would keep up with my EVO VIII 260 which is probably pushing out around 280hp there really isn't that much difference in straight line performance in the 200 - 300 hp arena in my opinion people expect to see the other car going backwards or vice versa but it just don't happen.

i sold my RST which was around 250bhp and got a P1 with close to 300bhp and to start with i thought the RS was quicker but after driving the P1 for a month or two i now dont think it is, from a stand still up to 140-150 comes up bloody quick
i loved the RS but the drive of the P1 is soooooooooooooooo much better pmsl

Oh.... you mean the standard ones that families drive around in with kids in the back!
Hang on though..... that would be the same as you going up against a standard Sierra or Esc Cos as well then?!? lol
Wooden spoon anyone?

I said I didnt own one.... not that they are no good.
Stick my engine in one of those lighter cars and your RST wouldnt get a look in!
Classic's with less power than my engine can get in the 11's down spod!
We are talking REAL power here though on a proper engine.

Oi Banchester, what are you waffling about?
Could easily have been a Type R or Type RA, both imported and readily available in blue. I know, as I've driven both!
Shaun, you SHOULD have bought an older one. That way your car wouldn't have that look of surprise every time it gets passed

Maybe ver 3. I am almost sure in ver 5 it was like that that Type R was only 3-door and type-RA was only 4 door.
But I have my knowledge mostly form brit sites as you can't see any of those over here naturally.

Probably the type ra, ive had a go in one, close ratio box, built for 0-60-100 really, once they hit 130 they start to fade, mad as fook cars thuogh, id have one..........

All JDM's are limited to 180km/h so what need for long ratios.
Also Type-R/RA are homologation specials so not true road cars, the same as EVO V RS with it's ultra short gear ratios.
Build to be quick around mountain roads and other twisties

because most scooby owners claim theyve got 330bhp when its usually around 260 and theyre nowhere near as fast as they like to think - i know i raced one in my golf gti and he struggled to pull away hehehehehehehe

There are some very fast Scoobies out there but unfortuantely there are also a hell of a lot of standard/near standard cars that the owners all seem to beleive are some sort of road going missile. I have wiped the floor with too many Impreza's to keep a count on including my mates old tweeked WRX. He was quite happy(ish) to admit he couldn't come close once we were rolling
Even our new FRST with just about 200bhp has wiped the smug grin off a couple of Subaru drivers faces
being a 2 door Impreza it narrow's down the model it could have been but there are still far too many varients to be guessing at what it was.
Keep an eye on ScoobyNet for a RS Turbo kept up with my Impreza supercar thread, then sit back and enjoy the fireworks
