my car wont start...
just got a coilf or my car, plugged it in and tried to start it.
it didnt.
checked all the wiring and as far as i can see its fine.
the coil is getting 12v's, so is the ecu.
i dropped the distributer cap off, and the points and rotor arm are badly worn.
would this cause the engine not to spark at all?
im not getting a spark at the plugs.
im going to get a rotor arm and dis cap tomorrow, and a set of leads.
but thought i'd stick it up and see if anyone has any sugestions!
cheers guys

the engine definately is
cant be 100% that the gearbox defo is.
the king lead has a different fittament to the rest of the leads.
its to small for the plug so i cant check the coil that way

its a dizzy engine,
if engine is earthed then wont be that.
fuel pump relay or crap dizzy cap.
crank sensor is located bottom left of the engine block, where the pas pump would be located if on a astra.
the wire should have a 3 pin connector connection into the engine loom near the strut top , definately wont start without that coonnected

i thought that was a power steering pump.
just to make sure, it was bolted to the front left of the block, and had a belt going to the bottom pully. this has a double v groved pully on it.
does this mean it is from an astra?
and of any perticular year?
just wondering so i know what car to say i have when i try and get the dizzy cap 2mora.
this is a pic of the cap:

that cap looks fucked !
u shouldn't have a pas pump fitted as u cant use it in a nova unless you have fitted a power steering rack to it?
I'll have a pick somewhere of where one is,
common as muck faults with crank sensors

i took it off so the engine would fit, but there was one on there. its now sitting in my garage somewhere.
just curious if that means the engine is for a certain car or year.
i have no idea what car or year it is from and find it hard ordering parts for it.
