Of course he knew. Everyone knows that if you go out and get properly pissed that it won't be out of your system the next morning, especially if he was drinking until the earl hours.
Either way, I hope he gets banned, he obviously needs to learn a lesson.
Insurance is gonna hurt, thats a fact. Mine doubled after my 12 month Ban.

If over the limit he will get banned. Its a mandatory ban i'm afraid. He will only get the blood option if blows between 40 and 50. Limit is 35 but the MET don't charge if under 40. If its in the counties they charge on anything 36 and over if I recall correctly.

As Jim really- Limit is 35 at the road side on the machine and they take you to the station for a further 2 chances on the big machine- nice that as it can take a while, west midlands also only prsecute on 40 and over.
Dunno about the blood test bit

Home for tea? Doesn't exactly sound like an all night bender.

Likely to get a ban I'm afraid. Coppers are looking for it at this time of year especially.
Makes me laugh how many saints who do no wrong and look down on others there is on here! FFS the lad had a few beers and got unlucky.
How many other folk have gone and got shit faced and then drove to work the next day occasionaly!?

Well, put it this way, if he had only had a couple, there is NO WAY that would still see him over the limit over 12 hours later.
He MUST have had a proper session.
Whatever the circumstances, Drink-driving laws aren't JUST there for Police Revenue. Imagine if he had passed a school on his way out this morning and his reactions weren't quite up to scratch?
I can judge, because I served a 12 month ban for Racing. I took it on the chin and am still suffering the higher Insurance premiums now, and the ban was in 2001!
Put it this way, he obviously didn't know he was doing anything wrong by driving the following morning, so he clearly needs to learn. Thats why these punishments are there. If he hadn't been done this time, perhaps next time it would have been worse.

Generally on the subject of drink driving, does anyone have experience with buying a breath tester? I've got one of those Ł2 keyring ones, but it's shite. There are Ł25 ones on eBay, anyone tried one of these or any others??
Personally I'd say it was price no object, if a proper reliable and accurate one was on the market.

Don't think there is a proper acurate one mate. Even the police ESD roadside machines are just a screening device and not very acurate at all. Hence why you need to blow on the proper EBM machine at the nick which is the size of a 1950s computer!
