Default Running from cops and totally losing them- whats the law?

Say you on an A-road somewhere, cops try pull you for speeding and you just give em some right clog and leave them for dust as you got 500bhp and they havent.

Whats the crack? If they got your numberplate you will get done no matter what?

I guess so.

I want info from people who know, not just presume, as i presume you will get done, but wanna know exactly for what and how.

Cheers

I outran the law when I was younger, worst thing I could have done, thought I was being clever as I got away down some side lanes etc

They caught up with me alright the next night, got producers every week for nearly 6 months! Got followed by the helicopter, car confiscated from me (Prohibition Notice), they made me pay alright!

Well if they've got your numberplate then they know where to get hold of you & if they know that you can bet your gonna get taken to court & your word against a coppers word in court dont mean nowt.
So the answer to your question would be yes you would get done.

about 7 years ago back I scappered from the police once as I had a dodgy number on and some wacky backy in the car and I turned down a country lane I knew well just as the turned the lights on and I totally cained it away from them and lost them.. its a very twisty country lane couple of hours later my dads rings up as he has the police in his office (thats where my car was registered to) so I quickly changed the plates over and drove home where the police (in plain cloths) came and met me and said why did you drive off so fast? do you have something to hide? I just claimed I didn't see them and they bascially told me they where going to pull me because of the plate but as I had changed it that was ok.. lucky escape
but basically if they have you plate they will find you

If they get the plate then expect a knock at the door.

Happened to someone I know of, he out ran them on an R1.

Waiting on his doorstep when he got home.

Failing to stop for police is now an arrestable offence under sec. 24 PACE (police and criminal evidence act) 1984. So your shafted mate!

Best bet is to plead ignorance. It wasn't you and only explanation you can think of is that someone cloned your plates. If you catch my drift.

Always get the plod doing the custom '3 pointer' after i go hurtling past them at 3 figure speeds

When i clock them doing a turn, i just go even faster. Law of physics say that x (me) traveling @ YYYmph in other direction = No fucking chance for them ever catching up, especially when its 3am and no one is on the road to block ya

Had them turn up at the door once or twice trying to acuse me (obviously as i am the registered keeper of the car) that i was the one driving I just say 'Keys are always on the hook, anyone can use the car, and they don't have to tell me either'

'So sir, how many people in your household?'

'Just me mate '

God i love winding them up

law states u have to be pulled over on a public highway for a motoring offence well it used to coz i got chased thro red light across torquay seafront then lost em in a village called cockington just off the front made it home . a while later knock at the door said they were reportin me for failing to stop runing red lights and none fue care . went to see my solicitor he asked where the car was parked i said garage . went to court he said as the car wasnt pulled over on a public road and i wasnt in the car when they appeared at my home there was no case ,got thtrown out but lets say the boys in blue tried there best to hump me on a regular basis but i bet the law is different now but they still would have to have proof u were driving at the time .

As stated mate unless they can say that YOU were driving there is no case to answer. It could have been anyone in a similar vehicle having cloned you plates. Stick to your story and you'll be okay.

Having said that you better slow down in future!

See, info from people whos actually done it seems to confirm what ive heard from people whos done it in the past.
Even if they have your reg, it seems they rarely do you

Ive done it before where they waiting on sliproads and come after me, but none of those times idve thought theydve been able to read my plates, so thats different.

Id no way reccomend it tho, just interested...

This thought came up as tonight a mate in a 500bhp GTR was giving it loads down a duel carridgeway with a Police Accord TypeR blue lights and sirens on, trying to chase him
He left the coppers TypeR totally, doubtful police got his plate, but he slowed down after and cop car caught up with him and followed him, but didnt pull him, then just buggered off!

Obv that different to what im asking here, but it reminded me

If they get anywhere near you with blue lights on then youre fooked if you don't pull over.

I've had a couple of occasions when the police have been coming from the other direction when I was going too fast and i clocked them slowing for a U'ey and then I've turned round a side road after a bend to see them go by on the main road with blues and twos.

Not worth running. Nothing wrong with sly tricks though

When i first blew up my Cossie was racing a 550bhp 300ZX down the M5 at 2am.

We was doing 160odd and slowed down for a Police RangeRover, we drew alongside and it was obvious hed've seen and heard us racing up to him, so the ZX driver gestured to boot it, so we did, and left the Police for dead, they put blue lights on, but they had no chance.

We carried on at big speeds and two T5s came along the oppo carridgeway with the lights on, presumably to get to the next junction to get us, but they had no chance.

I fucked by engine just before my turn off and drove home on 3cyls

Never heard anything from it, even tho the Range Rover wouldve had our plates.

I was the local polices public enemy number1 after that, but never associated it with that.
Well, until now

If i see police riot vans etc etc on the M-way i got no problems with them, il happily go past them at 110, i have countless times, as seems to me from experience so far, if they cant catch you, they dont do you

Wierd.

As said I think there is no point running if they have got your plates as they will know where you live, even though it may not be you driving! Then they may check insurance and see who else is on your policy, if nobody they may start doing people for no insurance!

I have seen coppers do a U turn and put their lights on when I have been going the other way and then just sped up more and turned off and hidden! Also had a police car following me round the lanes (Undercover, they didnt know I knew it was them) took them round in a circle a few times and then chipped off a little bit ad hid down a side lane!

lol that's i'm building a car that can get away from chase cars....cos i don't wanna be chased or filmed

I love the thrill of the chase, i love throwing them off course too.

Once in my nova, they done a 3 pointer in the road at about midnight whilst iwas on my way home from a mates, the road leading up to the roundabout is dead straight, so when i got to it, they could still see me. So i put my right indicator on, but went left

The thick twats actually went right at the roundabout cos i saw them in my rear view mirror hurtling around the roundabout with blue lights going and everything I was in absolute stitches the rest of the way home

I was out at about 1am on one of my fav roads in my 1st EsCos and saw a car in the distance so slowed a bit from about 140mph then realised that it wasnt a plod car so accelerated again and flew past it doing approx 160 ind and the saw there was a Astra plod car in front of the car I was passing.
The blue lights came on immediately but I kept it nailed then turned off onto a back road. I saw that plod had turned off as well but was so far ahead they had no chance. My arse was going tenbob-manhole cover that there would be a plod reception party for me at home so I called at a mates and dumped my car there and he gave me a lift home. No coppers waiting and I never heard a dickybird about it.

As far as I am aware if they can't make a positive ID on the driver there's little they can do but come round and scare you.

They can radio in to have you stopped further ahead though and then you may be seriously fooked. Happened to a mate of mine but just got a harsh warning.

Yup, thats totally what everyone with any real world experience of this has said.

And the posts on here from people whos never had any experience of it sayin "ooooh, your in trouble" etc etc proves why i only asked for info off people with a clue about it

ive evaded the law a few times in my 1.6 mk4 escort

once was overtaking going down a hill, wide enough for 4 cars easy, as i passed it a copper popped round the corner, think it was a honda accord. he done a u turn i kept it nailed to the bottom of the hill, my house was like 250 yards from the junction. so nipped up the road and where i used to park my car was off the road behind some garages so not visible from the road.

parked the car and went through the neighbours garden, hopped the fence and went in the back door of me house. by the time i had got in, my mums friend from down the road was at the front door, she heard me cain it up the road so looked out the window and seen the copper go by lights on etc lol

the fukka went past the house no less than 7 times lol

the other 2 occasions were an astra 1.7 derv, bint done a u turn on a roundabout, put the lights on - 60 limit... cya later

saw her again the next night... byeee

A friend of mine has a dodgy uncle, the kind that turns up at our house and asks if he can hide in a bedroom and you get two plain clothed policeman sat outside your house for a month.

He was out once in town with a mate acting like ten men and got attacked by ten actual men. My mates uncle got all charles bronson and mowed the gang of attackers down in his Capri and shot off home.

Once at home he put the Capri in the garage, cut both front wings off (they were dented from the event) got the hoover bag out the house and emptied it over the car and then put a sheet over it.

As predicted the law turned up and asked where he'd been, he had a cover story and when asked about his car took them to show them in saying he was working on it.

They said to him that they knew it was him that had run over a group of lads in town and they'd noticed the engine was still warm on the car but admitted that he'd got them and they'd be keeping an eye on him.

Quite an interesting story really, you have to know how the law works and if you are lucky you can work around that. But, and you'll know this more than anyone Steve, if the cops are bent you are pretty much screwed.

I actually changed my reversing bulbs for some high-power headlight ones, also activated by a switch .

If you look at the back of Justin's car (my old car re-shelled), you will see that where the reversing lights are, the plastic is slightly distorted from the heat of the headlight bulbs . Was fantastic when reversing and for getting people following to dip their lights if they forgot .

A guy locally who is a real nutter had an old ambulance siren fitted in his AstraMax. The bugger could get through traffic like a dose of salts.

I was speaking to Ray Mason and he was telling me about a time he was chased in his old Mk2 RS 2000 they chased him about until he mangaed to get away so he dumped his car on a playing field near his house and ran home when he got home he phoned the police and claimed it was nicked they laughed and said they had found it, when he went to pick it up they claimed to think it was him all along Pretty niffty trick but fuck leaving the Evo on a playing field

Mike

Oh and my thought has always been they need a Positive ID on you to prosocute, if not i am sure it would not be that difficult to have chucked out of court

I know a ald who has a 2.1 RST he got away from them whilst speeding (was traffic cops) didnt bother stopping , they had amanged to get him speeding on camera in the car but didnt get him zooming away into the distance , he got banned for a year and fined.

On other had , i once was pelting it down the motorway coming upto my cut off and started to slow down (110ish) was in a very quick 106 gti i had at the time, old plod were sitting in the lay-by just before the cut off, was about 3am , i took the cut off and see them pulling out lights on etc, i thought sheeeeeet, was now off the bypass and into the town, so i found the nearest housing estate and one with a empty drive way , parked up in some random driveway turned lights off and ducked down for about 10 mins

Needless to say i heard now about it again

As far as I am aware if they can't make a positive ID on the driver there's little they can do but come round and scare you.
i think they have changed the law on this,,, you have too be able to show/tell them who was driving your can at any time!
