The AA one is shit TBH, you need ones published by the DSA (Driving Standards Agency)

As for the hazard perception, if you want my advice, watch the clips like a hawk, if you think anything is a hazard click once then twice again (little tip) don't click too many times as the clip will be void (0 points), can also be luck of the draw with the clips too, some obvious some not, hope that helps.

I probably can the problem being i have been driving for nearly 8 years now with decent quick cars so my driving style is probably set in it's way which is for sure not the correct way.

Thats the reason why I asked Mike, it's hard to adopt the correct driving style for todays standards if you've already been driving for years, I've been driving 13 years and was an eye opener when my trainer explained the standards expected.

 

So basically i'm fucked

I really would like to do it in the Evo as a principle type thing because i am no dick head when i need to be sensible and i am used to my car now but understand how they could get pissed of, but what actually could they do or say ?

Choice of car for your test can be any Mike, thats not a problem so long as it's fully insured and road legal, and you may be a good driver, but it's the driving style the examiner expects to see that will allow you to pass.

I bet you don't know how to do the "cockpit drill" to start with lol

 

Would that be the checking seat position, mirrors, seat belt etc

The best advice I can give mate is fuck the books, buy the cd rom. after a couple of hours you will be passing the theory test every time. Its a bastard having to take ur test after driving for years, I have just passed my C licence and having to go back to 2 hands, handbrake blah blah blah was hard as hell.

Hazard perception is easy as well, I had to do the car 1 for my C. I think if you have been driving the haz per is the easy bit. This is also on the CD rom!!!

Rule number 1 i followed on test!

If i doubt wait! It's better to get a minor for hesitation than seriouse for being to close, etc!

Like in my HGV test i took a corner too wide, got a minor, but id have failed if i'd have caught the kurb!

 

You say that, but I failed my first DAS bike test for not overtaking a HGV that was going slowly up a hill. I just stayed the correct distance behind it. And to make matters worse, that was the ONLY thing I got wrong! Nothing else on the sheet. So I said "What about safety though " and he goes "Make progress"

Turns out he was a Central London courier before he became a test examiner, so when I got him for my next test we were doing 35-40 everywhere, and I didn't get into any trouble for it

why not have a few lessons first? don't sound like you're hard up, so why not get some proffesional training?

 

Yep thats the one Mike, need to be in order of:

Doors - Making sure they are closed
Seat - Rake, angle and headrest position (headrest need to be level with the back of your head)
Mirrors - Adjust if necessary, centre one sould be positioned to give a better view of the offside
Handbrake - Make sure it's on
Gears - Make sure in neutral before starting the car
Put seatbelt on
Depress the clutch
Start the car
Check fuel gauge - Enough petrol/diesel for journey

As already said might be worth taking a few lessons to get into that way of driving again, and yes the books are useful as they describe the way things should be done for the practical test, and what is required.

 

Doing the manouvers can screw you up if youve got a few years of bad habits.

Making sure you use the handbrake when required, none of the using footbrake to hold it at the lights etc.

Anyone can do a 3 point turn and reverse round a corner its doing them in accordance with the "rules" thats easy to forget, ie correct clearance on major and minor road, reversing far enough back down minor road etc.

My parallel parking was shocking until i practised it as I park in a car park at home and at work so never need to do it!!!

I don't know what they teach with gears now but when I learnt to drive it was 4th gear at 30mph then when I did my driver training it was 3rd gear at 30mph for better control of engine/responseivness and car control.

Oh just an up-date i passed my theory test was in and out in no time,

I think i took about 9 mins on the main part then sat hazard test,

I have had 2 lessons and the instructor has put me straight in for my test so fingers crossed

As for doing your test in the evo it could be frowned upon. depending on wether the tester was a dick or sommat. Could be jealous of your car or something and mark you harshly because of it anything like that is possible really. It's something to consider. If you're having lessons in another car i'd just use that mate to be perfectly honest.
