I got this one the other week. Not a bad price either compared to some places.

Coming from a biking background having head protection that fits you has always been upermost in my mind.

For that reason I have my own, knowing that no one has stretched the padding in the helmet or abused/dropped it, makes owning one and being carefull with it worthwhile IMO.

I have to agree

I went to a local motor bike shop and got them to help me and check a helmet fitted. They had them from 50 quid upwards.

I got a nice hat, very light in my opinion (and looks ok) for 65 quid. was reduced from 90 ish and I am very pleased.

If you want to do it regularly (more than 2 times a year) then its worth buying your own.

Just be weary of buying features you don't need. I bought a peltor pro carbon with intercom etc as my car will eventually be a full rally rep once its been reshelled, but until then it was too quiet so I removed the intercom system as with it i could only just hear the engine on full throttle round silverstone, and this was annoying as I normally change gear on engine note rather than looking at dials or bouncing off the limiter

You don't need to spend more than Ł100 for a safe trackday helmet.

Id say buy, and imo id say go for an open face helmet, alot more comfortable for in car use!

ive just bought a sparco jet, very comfortable and lightweight and pretty reasonable at Ł150.

But even there entry level stuff, ie: sparco club is only about Ł60 and is a good helmet.

If you don't buy a helmet, at least get your own balaclava for a little more "protection" from the body fluids

Darren, which one did you buy out of interest ?

did actually think about the open face, any more sideways vision than a full face ?
